The Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People (SDOP) is a ministry of Presbyterians and ecumenical partners dissatisfied with poverty and oppression that participates in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed and disadvantaged communities. SDOP provides grants to low income community groups working towards poverty alleviation through projects they own and directly benefit from.

Third day in our mission trip and we are getting close to the end of the trip. The SDOP team accompanied by CIEETS staff visited with a group located in Barranco Rosa community. This group of 10 members received a grant to do pig and chicken bredding and doing very well. Then, we visited with a group in Santa Rosa Community, called Pacific Fruits. The group started doing fruit dehydration and did not happen due to weather conditions and they switched to do medicinal plants dehydration. Continuing our mission trip in Nicaragua. We visited today with "Youth United for the good of the community" located in San Pedro Las Molinas, an impressive youth group that started their pig breeding with 4 pigs and in two years has achieved 150 (you can find out more at https://www.facebook.com/crianza.de.cerdos.san.pedro.los.molina?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v ; then we visited Elma Soto's entrepreneurship where she has a chicken breeding, excellent results and she feels very happy to contribute with the family economy; at the end of the day we visited ZENIFER entrepreneurship, where Zeneyda Ampie developed a small bussiness selling crafts made by her (you can find out more at https://www.facebook.com/share/1CG33F6rdP/?mibextid=wwXIfr Another day where we could see how these brave people are achieving their dreams and verifying how the OGHS offering's funds are making a big impact on people's lives. A team from the Presbyterian Committee on the Self Development of People (SDOP) (Mark Davis, the International Task Force Chairperson and Teresa Bidart , primary contact for SDOP international funding) is visiting the Interchurch Center for Theological and Social Studies (CIEETS), SDOP's intermediary partner in Nicaragua. We visited with CIEETS staff in the morning and visited 2 remarkable women, Jeannie Brenes and Geraldine Alvarez, that were benefited by the SDOP-CIEETS partnership later on.
