For years, or maybe more than that, our life has been intense. So much has been happening—in our country, in the world, and in our own lives. How are you managing it all? When I was a child, I couldn’t wait to grow up, but now I realize that being an adult means losing some of that pure joy and innocence. EVERY.DAY. we’re exposed to so much tragedy. [...] Today, I want to focus on something that brings joy. What has brought you joy recently—this week or even this month?

When I teach about liturgical time, I sometimes use the image of an old-fashioned clock—the kind with an hour hand, minute hand, and second hand. Like an analog timepiece, liturgical time circles around at three speeds: the rhythms of the year, the week, and the day.
[…]
Although they move at different speeds, each hand of the clock travels the same circle. Similarly, the rhythms of the Christian year, week, and day are meant to draw us into a singular event: the dying and rising of Christ.

Hi, Everyday God-Talk community! I hope you had a great summer. Starting this month, I plan to share some reflections on ableism and how it intersects with racism, poverty, and white supremacy in our country. Also, how do we knowingly and unknowingly practice it in our worship space and everyday lives? I don't have all the answers, but I’d like to explore these topics with you.

We wanted to let you know that our blog updates will be a bit slower and on pause during June and July. Once we have more information about the General Assembly’s decisions and direction regarding certain overtures and business items, we’ll be back with fresh new posts. We also aim to align our updates with the newly revamped PC(USA) webpage.

Last month, we highlighted an exciting opportunity—the Teaching the Bible Grant (a.k.a. TBG). If you’re involved with a Presbyterian Church (USA) affiliated secondary school, college, or university, this grant is something you should definitely consider. Hastings College is a great example of how this Teaching the Bible Grant can be used for meaningful work. Last year, they received the grant and have since hosted a variety of events for Presbyterian college students.

We are delighted to share this reflection on our work three months after the Moderator’s Conference, underscoring the interconnectedness of thinking Soul, praying Heart, and living within the Body of Christ. The ethos and frame are reflected well in our current “categories” of the Everyday God-talk blog. Through this holistic approach, we strive to advocate for God’s justice and love, even amidst the uncertainties of our time.

In November 2023, during the Moderator’s Conference of PC(USA), the Office of Theology and Worship embarked on a significant endeavor tied to our everyday responsibilities, as previously mentioned in one of our blog posts in November. At the conference, we delved into the themes of Thinking, Prayi...
