Introducing a new prayer and resource guide: "Practicing Welcome, Standing with Immigrants."

This guide weaves the journeys told in Luke 2:1–7 and Matthew 2:11–15 with the lived realities of immigrants and refugees residing in or seeking protection in the United States. Each session offers Scripture, PC(USA) social witness policy, reflection, current policy context, practical actions, and prayer for communities seeking justice and compassion. There are six sessions meant to be used weekly or as stand-alone sessions. Learn more about the resource and download the full guide for free here: https://hubs.ly/Q04k74Cr0

As people of faith, spiritual practices remind us how to be in solidarity. Thank you Presbyterian Disaster Assistance for sharing Fairlington Presbyterian Church's (Alexandra, VA) tribute to those who have been lost to immigration enforcement. Out of prayer comes the call to solidarity. May we advocate for relief and alternatives that seek dignity and care, following policies that reflect light and mercy.

Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the PCUSA, Rev. Jihyun Oh, highlights the sacredness of each and every life. "Scripture teaches us that every person is created in God’s image and therefore every life is sacred. The sanctity of life does not vanish behind concrete walls and locked doors. Yet the violence of immigration enforcement, including detention — the raids, the exercise of control, the number of those who come to harm, even death — depends on denying this truth. This denial turns humans into objects; people become units, neighbors become numbers and God’s children become mere bodies. When people are treated as objects rather than lives to be protected, death is no longer an accident; it is a foreseeable outcome of indifference and cruelty. With greater numbers of people detained, more people will die."

They open their mouths as wide as the grave, and like death, they are never satisfied. In their greed they have gathered up many nations and swallowed many peoples. — Habakkuk 2:5b (NLT) The 220th General Assembly (2012) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) urges our church to take the following ac...

A victory came this week against the Trump administration’s efforts to end Temporary Protective Status (TPS) for Haitian immigrants, an advocacy issue that the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and some of its partners have been keeping a close watch on.

The House passed a bill Thursday to extend TPS for three years for that population, clearing the way for the humanitarian legislation to move forward for consideration by the Republican-controlled Senate.
