Take a look at these photos of St. Boniface Church's interior through the years. From 1884 to the present day, there have been some major changes to the art and decor inside our church. What do you notice that is still original?

Frances Ridley Havergal was a 19th-century English poet and hymn writer known for her devotion to Our Lord. She wrote the text to this hymn, paired with the wonderful THAXTED tune. The lyrics are centered around the mercy of Christ. It is most fitting for today, Divine Mercy Sunday.

Stabat Mater - Zoltán Kodály (1882-1967)
Good Friday.

Translation:
Sorrowful, weeping stood the Mother by the cross on which hung her Son.
Whose soul, mournful, sad, lamenting, was pierced by a sword.
Oh how sad, how afflicted was that blessed Mother of the Only-begotten.

After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said,

“I thirst.”

There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said,

“It is finished.”

And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.

Firmly I Believe and Truly (NASHOTAH HOUSE) SMH #511, at the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. What a beautiful way to start Holy Week.

This hymn was composed in 1992 by Joseph A. Kurcharski, paired with text by St. John Henry Newman, and is only found in the St. Michael Hymnal!

What did you sing for Holy Thursday?

Thomas Tallis’s If Ye Love Me is an anthem drawn from the Gospel of John 14:15-17, part of Christ’s farewell discourse at the Last Supper. Often sung on Holy Thursday, it reflects Christ’s commandment to love one another and His promise of the Holy Spirit.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another comforter,
that he may 'bide with you forever;
E'en the sp'rit of truth.
