One Year Anniversary
Did you know that on September 6th we marked the one year anniversary of resuming perpetual adoration at the St. Francis chapel? This is a huge achievement and is such a group accomplishment! Thank you so much to every single weekly adorer and dedicated substitute. We could not do it without your dedication to taking each hour and the unwavering devotion to our Lord. God has showered us with many graces, and there is much to be grateful for in the past year.

Please continue to help build a stronger foundation for adoration in our community by encouraging others to sign up for a weekly hour. There are still 41 hours with only one adorer covering the time slot. If more people sign up for weekly hours, then we can lighten the load on our wonderful subs! Thank you for your support.

We now have beautiful postcards again in the back of the chapel! Many of you have asked for this, and a very generous adorer paid for them to be printed. The postcards can be sent to someone for whom you have offered a holy hour of adoration. Please take one, and leave a small donation if you can. Keep spreading the word about adoration and help us to get more weekly adorers signed up!

We currently do not have any weekly adorers on Sundays at 6 am. It is a beautiful hour because you go into the chapel at dawn and see the stained glass windows slowly light up as the sun comes up. Would you be willing to sign up for this as a weekly commitment? If so, please respond to [email protected]. Thank you for considering this!

To sign up for an weekly hour of adoration, please go to adorationpro.org/lafayettein

If you need a sub because you cannot make your hour, please remember that you are responsible for finding coverage. Jesus CANNOT be left alone. You will go to adorationpro.org/lafayettein and click “Find a Sub” at the bottom. If you select “Auto Sub Request,” it will send a message to all of the subs on the list that your hour needs covered. To ask someone individually to sub for your hour, click “Manually find a sub from the list.” Of course, you can also get a sub on your own without using our internet system, as long as that person has their own badge.

When coming to the chapel for your holy hour, you can park at the parking lot at the corner of 14th Street and Hartford Street. Simply walk to the main entrance up the ramp on 14th Street to swipe your badge. Bathrooms for the adorers are also in this main lobby when you enter. Also, Mass is celebrated every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at the chapel at 7:00 a.m. Weekend Mass times are at 4:30 pm Saturday, and Sunday at 7:30, 9:30, and 12:15 pm.

Please keep your badge safe. A replacement badge will cost you $25 to replace if it becomes lost. Please email [email protected] immediately if you lose your badge so that we can deactivate it. If for any reason you have an emergency during your holy hour (such as a medical issue or safety concern), hit the panic button on the wall by the altar. A security guard will be alerted immediately. There is a camera in the chapel that security watches at all times as well for your safety.

Adorers,

The badges are in! We are ready to distribute them to you so that we can begin perpetual adoration on Tuesday, September 6th, at the St. Francis chapel (formerly known as St. Elizabeth Central). There are two evenings when you can pick up your badge:

Tuesday, August 30th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 31st, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

You will meet us in the chapel lobby right inside the main doors on 14th Street. You must have your badge before you begin your holy hour on the week of September 6th because it is your only access to enter the chapel. It is vital for everyone to pick up their badges, because otherwise all of the hours will not be covered. If you signed up as a substitute only, you will also need to come and get your badge as well during this time.

We only have one hour left to fill with no adorers. Would anyone please be willing to switch or take the hour from 8:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturdays? As we get closer to Sept. 6th, we will send out more information about the procedures for adoration, how to get a substitute, Mass times, etc. Be on the lookout for more important announcements in the next two weeks.

God Bless,

Lafayette Adoration

adoradores,

Dear friends,

The wait is finally over! The newly-renovated St. Francis Chapel (formerly St. Elizabeth Central Campus) is ready to re-open! We know it has been difficult without perpetual adoration at our beautiful chapel, but we think you will be speechless when you see how stunning the renovations are. Renovations include a vividly-painted ceiling, hard-wood flooring, refurbished Stations of the Cross, removal of the drop-ceiling below the choir loft, a new statue of St. Elizabeth, a new altar, total cleaning of the stained-glass windows, and a re-tuned organ, just to name a few. The substantial financial commitment to the chapel has been incredible, and we are so lucky to be able to adore Christ in this beautiful space.

We are looking to begin adoration at the chapel again in mid-May of 2022. As soon as we get enough adorers to sign up and commit again to an hour with our Lord, we can begin perpetual adoration. As for now, there are two slots for adorers per hour. We will need all hours filled with at least two adorers in order to make perpetual adoration a reality again. This cannot start until all of the slots are filled. Please consider taking a nightly hour, which can be difficult to fill.

In the past, there has been a concern about safety in this neighborhood. Please know that Franciscan is serious about the security and safety of adorers. The City of Lafayette plans to install four new street lights to better illuminate the area, and the surrounding walkways leading to the chapel will have new lighting as well. There are more cameras and security guards on duty at all hours in case of a problem. The chapel will only be accessibly by secure access (more information to follow on how this protocol will work). The new walkway to the front entrance of the chapel on 14th Street should make entering and exiting the chapel easier than before.

Please note that the old sign-up for the chapel (www.lafayetteadoration.org) will take you to the new sign up at https://adorationpro.org/lafayettein. Once there, click on “Weekly Commitment” to sign up for an hour and to become a substitute. Please share this link with as many of your friends and family members that you can and encourage others to sign up to take an hour. Remember: the sooner the hours are filled, the sooner we can re-open the chapel for adoration! Expect further communication regarding reopening plans in the weeks to come, and check your email for messages from Adoration Pro, which is the system we will be using from now on regarding adoration at the Central chapel.

Yours in Christ,
