🎆 As Fireworks Season Approaches, Let’s Celebrate Together RESPONSIBLY!

The holidays are a time for celebration, family, and community. As fireworks season gets closer, the Tippecanoe County Commissioners want to remind everyone to celebrate safely, legally, and with consideration for those around us. While fireworks can be a fun tradition, they can also be stressful or overwhelming for neighbors, pets, veterans, and individuals with sensory sensitivities or medical conditions.

Tippecanoe County’s fireworks regulations are outlined in Tippecanoe County Fireworks Ordinance No. 2013-25-CM, which was adopted to help reduce injuries, protect property, and preserve the livability and tranquility of our community.

Before lighting fireworks:
Please remember that fireworks are only permitted in certain unincorporated areas of Tippecanoe County and only during approved dates and times under county ordinance.

Approved fireworks times provided in Indiana Code 22-11-14-10.5 include:
🎇 June 29 – July 3 and July 5 – July 9: 5:00 p.m. until two hours after sunset
🎆 July 4: 10:00 a.m. – Midnight
⚠️ Fireworks used outside permitted dates and times may result in enforcement action by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department
⚠️ Violations of the ordinance may carry fines of up to $250

Remember:
🐾 Consider pets and animals who may be frightened by loud noises
💙 Be mindful of veterans and trauma survivors who may be affected by sudden explosions
🏡 Consider giving neighbors a heads-up when possible
🔒 Safety Tip: After fireworks have been used, place them in a bucket of water and allow them to cool before disposing of them in the trash. This helps prevent accidental fires and injuries.

A little courtesy goes a long way🙏 in helping everyone enjoy the holiday weekend safely and comfortably.
