Tachoni Bible Translation Project
The Journey to the Completion of the Tachoni New Testament – Part 2

A key early milestone in this remarkable journey was the dedication of the Gospel of Luke in October 2018. The community gathered with great joy and gratitude to celebrate the portion of the Scripture in their language. Significantly igniting renewed passion and strengthening the vision to see the entire New Testament translated into the Tachoni language.

What started as a single Gospel has transformed into a significant journey of faith, unity, and perseverance. Over the years, translators have diligently collaborated with churches, community leaders, and various partners on Bible translation, literacy, and engaging with Scripture.

From one Gospel to the entire New Testament, we celebrate a testimony of faith, commitment, and God’s faithfulness.

Join us in celebrating the Tachoni community on Saturday, September 12, 2026, for the dedication and launch of their New Testament.

The Tachoni community primarily resides in Webuye, Bungoma County, bordering the Bukusu, Kabras, Abanyala, and Nandi communities.

The Tachoni people primarily speak Olutachoni, a dialect of the Luhya language. For many years, the community has strongly desired access to God's Word in their heart language. This longing has driven them to advocate for the advancement and recognition of their language and culture.

The Tachoni community themselves mobilized resources to facilitate a language needs assessment by Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL), a powerful demonstration of their commitment to seeing the Scriptures in Olutachoni.

In 2015, the Tachoni Bible Translation and Literacy Project, located in Lugulu, Webuye, Bungoma County, was established with the vision of making God’s Word accessible to the Tachoni people in their native language.

Since then, God has demonstrated His faithfulness. Various materials in the Tachoni language have been developed and made available to the community. The Scripture engagement initiative has positively impacted lives, leading to noticeable growth and transformation among the Tachoni community. As we share the journey toward completion, each finished portion brings us one step closer to a significant milestone, the completion of the Tachoni New Testament.

By the grace of God, the Tachoni New Testament is complete and will be dedicated and made available to the community on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

As we prepare to celebrate this remarkable milestone, pray that as God’s Word becomes available in their heart language, it will transform hearts, families, churches, and the entire community.

Glory to God! The Tachoni New Testament has arrived!

The Tachoni New Testament consignment arrived safely on Tuesday evening, September 1st, at our offices in Lugulu, Bungoma County. We give all glory to God for bringing this important milestone to pass!

The arrival of these Scriptures marks a significant step towards unveiling the New Testament in the Tachoni language for the Tachoni community. The dedication and launch will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM, at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) TVET Institute, Webuye Campus.

We invite you to join us in celebrating with the Tachoni community as we witness the joy of receiving God’s Word in their heart language. May these Scriptures bring hope, transformation, and a deeper knowledge of Christ to generations of Tachoni speakers.

Join us in prayer for smooth and successful preparations for the dedication and launch. Pray for every person involved and for the Tachoni community.

A profound transformation takes place when a community hears Scripture not in a foreign language, but in their mother tongue. For the Suba people, who primarily live along the shores of Lake Victoria and on its Islands of Mfangano and Rusinga, receiving the Scriptures represents both a spiritual revival and a movement for cultural preservation.

With the availability of the New Testament Scriptures, the community can directly read, internalize, and apply God's Word to daily life. The churches across Suba land have seen the practical fruits of this work: vibrant worship, clearer teaching, and believers actively living out the teachings of Jesus in their homes and communities.

- Pray for the completion of the remaining stages of the Suba Bible
- Pray for the impact of the available portion of the Scriptures on the Suba community.

The Molo project translation progress: We celebrate the successful completion of the community review of the Gospel of Mark. We are grateful for the commitment of the Molo community in supporting the Bible translation, literacy, and language development efforts in their language. Praise God for the progress achieved in the Molo language.

The Molo community is one of the projects we support in the South Sudan region. May God continue to strengthen the translators and everyone involved, so the Molo people can encounter God’s Word clearly and meaningfully in the language of their hearts.

Tachoni New Testament Dedication: Praise God for the ongoing mobilisation efforts towards the Tachoni New Testament Dedication, scheduled for Saturday, 12th September 2026, in Webuye. Last week, the local dedication planning committee met with leaders from the Deliverance Church International, Western Region, and yesterday, they met with Tachoni pastors from the Quaker Church.

Praise God for these open doors to sensitise the Tachoni community about the completion of the New Testament Bible in their language and to invite them to receive God’s Word on the 12th. Pray for this Committee as they engage with various stakeholders, that the Lord blesses these efforts in mobilising the community to receive His Word.

The translation of the Bible into the Tachoni language began about ten years ago, and grateful to God that the New Testament has been completed.

"Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare." Psalm 40:5.

Sometimes, we pause and look back and realise just how much God has done. What once seemed impossible is now a testimony; what we prayed for has become a reality; look at this beautiful gift of the Marakwet Bible. May our lives continually point back to Him, and may His name be glorified in all He has done and what He has purposed to do for us and through us.

Scripture transforms behavior when it reaches the conscience. A clear, heartfelt understanding leads directly to deep spiritual conviction and active faith.
In relatable language, the text becomes instantly understandable, accessible, and insightful; the message thus convicts and comforts effectively.
