*TITLE: GREEN SPECIALIST*
*INTRODUCTION*
The Salesians of Don Bosco are present in 132 countries across the world. Here in Africa we are over 40 countries organised into administrative units called Provinces. A province comprises of several countries. Here in Kenya, we are in a province called Don Bosco AFE which comprises of four countries namely, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan and Sudan. The headquarter for DOn BOsco AFE is here in Nairobi.
The Salesians basically run technical institutions. Here in Kenya we have five technical institutions i.e. Don Bosco Kakuma, Don Bosco Marsabit, Don Bosco EMbu, Don Bosco Makuyu and Don Bosco Boys Town Nairobi.
The Provincial Development Office (PDO) is responsible for managing development projects in the province. Don Bosco Development Outreach Network (DBDON) is the development agency of Don Bosco AFE. Don Bosco Technical Africa (DBTA) works with all the PDOs in promoting a unified approach to development programs across Africa.
At this time DBTA and DBDON are launching a three year Germany funded project called The Global Project. Part of the activities of this project is to enhance awareness on climate change in the five regions in Kenya where we are operating.
*ROLES*
The environmental specialist in this project referred to as Green SPecialist (GS) will be responsible for:
Developing environmentally friendly sensitization materials in the mentioned topics.
Conducting campaigns in the assigned regions.
Spearheading environmental friendly activities in the institutions of operation.
Training and following up the liaison persons at the centres.
Preparing regular reports.
Continuously collecting information leading to the development of a training manual in the areas of environmental conservation and sustainability.
Networking with organisations dealing with environmental sensitization.
*QUALIFICATIONS*
Team player.
Fluency in English (Ability to speak in French will be an added advantage).
Excellent report writing skills
Computer Literate.
Ability to work in diverse environments under minimum supervision.
Possession of a degree in environmental science or studies or its equivalent from a reputable institution.
Possession of a Passport will be an added advantage.
