Dear friends who may be interested,

This is a reminder to reinforce what I have already said in the past. And this is also to announce the launching of my personal YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/

With the arrival of artificial intelligence and hosts of enthusiastic people with great skills to edit and manipulate words and images, I keep seeing so many of my pictures and teachings floating around along with quotes and sayings that supposedly come from me.

Of course, many of these posts have original footage, but many are also edited out of context. I definitely don’t oppose that and, in any case, have no ability to prevent it. But I do need to remind you that most of these posts don’t come from me and aren’t produced under my supervision.

If something is posted by Siddhartha’s Intent or Khyentse Foundation or in my own Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or Reddit accounts, then of course it’s official, has my consent, and is done with my full knowledge. But I see more and more images and words circulating that come from all over the place.

If some of those posts sooth people for even a few minutes, I can only feel glad. But I sometimes worry that, in the process, people may get the wrong idea about me and that these posts could lead to unwanted solicitations.

As for the nature of these postings, I really don’t mind those that have me riding a lion or eagle, sitting inside a crystal ball, wearing football gear or even wearing latex and more. Those don’t bother me at all. I am much more concerned with those that present me as wholesome or holier-than-thou, because that can really lead to unfounded expectations, and that worries me.

I don’t often visit my social media sites, and I likewise don’t see myself posting much on this new YouTube channel. In fact, I don’t expect people to subscribe to it. But just like on Facebook, I may sometimes post a few things on YouTube just to remind folk of my own true colours.

SI Canada warmly welcomes you to join us for a Chökhor Düchen Celebration on:

Friday, July 17 | 7:00–8:30 p.m. (Pacific Time)

Chökhor Düchen, the Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma, is one of the four major Buddhist holy days. It commemorates the auspicious occasion when Shakyamuni Buddha first turned the Wheel of Dharma by giving his first teaching after attaining complete enlightenment.

To celebrate this special day, please join us for a presentation of “The Perfect Awakening,” the final act of Remembrance Meditation, a three-act dramatic meditation created by 84000: Translating the Words of the Buddha and inspired by The Play in Full (Lalitavistara) Sutra.

Composed in twenty-seven chapters, the Lalitavistara Sutra beautifully recounts the life of the Buddha, culminating in his complete awakening. Remembrance Meditation was first performed beneath the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya during the Bodhgaya Monlam several years ago. This final act, “The Perfect Awakening,” portrays the Buddha’s complete victory over Māra, his attainment of perfect awakening beneath the Bodhi Tree, his first turning of the Wheel of Dharma, and the gathering of the first Saṅgha. It offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate this sacred occasion.

Following the presentation, we will recite the Heart Sutra and conclude with aspiration and dedication prayers.

Hot off the press!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that this Saturday's session of the Datun Study Program will be led by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. He will introduce lojong (mind training) and teach us how to “rest in absolute bodhicitta” (from five of Atisha’s slogans).

After his teaching, a panel of senior instructors will lead a discussion on Rinpoche’s teaching and respond to questions.

Rinpoche, thank you for returning time after time as our coach, in spite of the poor remuneration package and the team's questionable wisdom skills. Thank you for believing in us when often we don't believe in ourselves. Thank you for your humour even after we miss the easiest of penalties. Thank you for your patience with our many own goals. Thank you for your compassion when we tackle our opponents. Thank you for your trust even after we fail to pass the ball to our fellow team players. Thank you for your tireless efforts explaining the offside rule of emptiness umpteen times. Thank you for your love of the beautiful game.

Supplicating Tara at Saga Dawa Düchen

Siddhartha’s Intent Canada is pleased to host a virtual recitation of praises and prayers to the Mother of all Buddhas – Tara, with contemplation on sutra quotes from 84000: Translating the Words of the Buddha.

Saga Dawa Düchen is one of the four Buddhist festivals commemorating the life of the Buddha. This day celebrates Buddha Shakyamuni’s enlightenment and parinirvana.

On this auspicious day, we will gather virtually to supplicate Tara through praises and prayers drawn from the sutras translated by the 84000 project. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Khyentse Foundation, and in light of the recent teachings from Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche on Tara, it will be timely and appropriate to invoke her protection for our community and the world at large. We will conclude with some guided contemplation on sutra quotes curated by the 84000 team and with aspiration prayers.

This occasion celebrates the 25th anniversary of Khyentse Foundation and is part of KVP’s Text of the Month initiative.

Khyentse Foundation has been under Ārya Tārā's care since its inception. In celebration of this enduring connection, KVP has created a special compilation of Tārā texts by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. These prayers, practices, and supplications reveal Khyentse Wangpo's profound devotion to Tārā and his frequent visionary encounters with the deity. The collection includes practices of both Green and White Tārā, along with instructions for invoking her swift activity, protection, and blessings.

Rinpoche will use these precious texts as a basis to show how we can connect with Tārā's compassionate activity in our own practice. May Tārā continue to protect and inspire us, so that the Dharma may benefit countless beings for generations to come!
