Living in Times of Uncertainty: A Work that Reconnects Workshop

The Work that Reconnects (WTR) is a set of experiential group exercises that invite us to connect with our common humanity and our commonality with all beings. This allows us to explore our feelings and perceptions about the current state of the world regarding both social and environmental concerns. Workshop time progresses through a structured process to support participants move from despair to empowerment.

The founder of the Work that Reconnects is Joanna Macy, a Buddhist teacher, deep ecologist/eco-philosopher, environmental activist, systems thinker and honoured elder.

🙏🏽 Members of the MRZC sangha enjoyed making delicious treats for tea ceremony during Practice Period’s opening weekend as well as for our annual retreats.

🍮 These wagashi will also be sold at another fundraiser for the Victoria Hand Project on October 25, after regular Sunday practice (at both locations).

📣🙏📣 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility ~~~> Initiative on Physical Disability in the Sangha – 📣🙏📣 Call for Participation 📣🙏📣

The DEIA committee invites sangha members with lived experience of physical disability to participate in a dialogue to learn about current barriers to practice in MRZ spaces for those living with physical disability. This will be a one-time meeting with the goal of learning from sangha members' lived experience and wisdom to inform guidelines and improve accessibility at Mountain Rain.

Dharma talk by Myoshin Kate on "The Spirit of Play" - Sunday September 6

For Labour Day weekend we'll consider how the spirit of play can infuse all we do with suppleness and creativity, with wisdom from Dogen and ethology (the study of animal behaviour in natural environments).

Join a dedicated group of volunteers tending to the Bright Stream garden as a form of work practice (mindfulness while doing physical tasks.

The ongoing care given to building healthy soil, weeding, pruning , harvesting, is a joyous collaborative effort. No gardening experience needed. Simply show up after regular Sunday practice (1pm), in the BST garden. If you would like to know more, please reach out to Liz: [email protected]
