From the historic I.O.T.T Hall to the new Wellington Community Hall, the only fully Disability-Friendly Community Hall in Drakenstein, a space designed to welcome everyone with Dignity, Accessibility and Inclusion.

This hall is more than just a Building, it is a Symbol of Progress and Unity. A proud Milestone for the community, Officially attended by Jaco Londt, MPP, Ward 29 Councillor Avron Appollis, MP Matlhodi Maseko, MP Eleanore Bouw-Spies.I am proud to be the Mayor of this beautiful Drakenstein.

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹

Drakenstein Municipality’s Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire at the Paarl Hospital, which was reported at 11:17 on Tuesday, 27 January 2026.

By 12:00, firefighters had successfully contained the blaze to the Day Hospital section of the provincial hospital. All occupants of the ground, first, and second floors of the hospital were safely evacuated.

The Municipality’s Fire and Rescue teams, together with our traffic and law enforcement officers and the South African Police Service, remain on scene to secure the area and support ongoing operations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
