There are lives that do not merely pass through our world—they leave an enduring imprint.
Pierre Toerien was such a man. His life was a gift of grace, and his absence is felt as a deep silence where once there was faithful presence, wisdom, and love.
Our journey can be traced back to 1999 at a conference in Nairobi, Kenya. As our relationship matured, Pierre and Karin walked with us not only as partners in ministry but as family in the truest sense of the word.
To Mirolyn and me, Pierre was more than a colleague. He was a beloved son in the faith, a trusted friend, and a covenant brother whose loyalty never wavered. Over the years, both he and Karin became deeply cherished members of our own family.
To the Judah household, the Gate Global Family, and many across Mossel Bay, South Africa and beyond, he was a devoted father, faithful shepherd, gifted teacher, and a living testimony of Christ formed in a man.
It is difficult to imagine our Apostolic Schools of Ministry without one of its faithful pillars, and without the poet whose words so beautifully crowned each gathering. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled—only honoured.
Pierre indeed fought the good fight. He finished the race. He kept the faith. His life stands as a testimony to the transforming grace of God and a reminder that a life faithfully lived in Christ leaves an enduring witness in the hearts of many.
