Friendship Service | Sunday, 06 September 2026

Date: 06 September 2026
Text: 1 John 5:8

โ€œAnd there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.โ€

What a blessed Friendship Service we shared together as a congregation. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝโœจ

Our service was conducted by Congregation Rector Priest Clint Beech, who called upon Priest Carl Martin to serve for the calling up.

๐Ÿ“– Sundayโ€™s Word: The Saving Effect of the Sacraments

We were reminded that:
โ€ข The divine Sonship of Jesus Christ is acknowledged by God the Father.
โ€ข The Spirit, the water and the blood point to the saving effect of the sacraments administered in the Church of Christ.
โ€ข The sacraments are necessary for obtaining salvation in its fullness.

Following the Divine Service, we enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship, friendship and togetherness as a congregation. ๐Ÿคโ˜•๏ธ It was a beautiful opportunity to share in one anotherโ€™s company and strengthen the friendship of our church family.

May we continue to walk together in faith, love and fellowship, carrying the message of Christ with us throughout the week. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

On Sunday, 23 August 2026, the Congregation of Protea Heights was blessed to welcome District Rector Clayton Barnes for a special visit.

The Divine Service was conducted by District Rector Clayton Barnes, with Priest Jonathan Roberts called upon to assist.

The focus of the service was the importance of nurturing loving and respectful relationships between parents and children. The message reminded us that God is pleased when families care for, support and value one another.

We were also reminded of the importance of caring for one another, especially during times of need, and of showing love and compassion within our families and congregation. ๐Ÿค

The Congregation also had the joy of celebrating a beautiful milestone a 60th Wedding Anniversary.

What a blessing to celebrate love, commitment, family and the value of one another. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค

โ€œValue one another, care for one another, and walk together in love.โ€

On Wednesday, 29 July, we were blessed to have our District Rector, J. Bronkhorst, serve the congregation of Protea Heights. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

๐Ÿ“– Service Word: Warning Against Self-Righteousness

Through the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, we were reminded that self-righteousness can quietly find its way into our own hearts even as Christians who consider ourselves devout.

The message encouraged us to remain humble, remembering that our faith should never lead us to look down on those who live their lives or practise their faith differently from us. Instead, we are called to approach others with grace, humility and understanding. ๐Ÿค

After the divine service the congregation experienced a beautiful fellowship, sharing in good conversation and community. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

Our Dare2Care Week began in the best way possible by sharing the Word of God with our youngest members. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ“–

On Sunday, 26 June the Young People had the privilege of conducting our Sunday School lessons, planting seeds of faith, teaching Godโ€™s love, and reminding our children that His Word is the foundation for every season of life. May the lessons taught today continue to grow in their hearts. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

Sunday, 5 July 2026 โ€“ Service for the Departed

The 9:00 a.m. Divine Service was conducted by our Rector, Priest Clint Beech, with Priest Lance Sheldon serving alongside him.

The Bible Text that formed the basis of the Divine Service was 1 Peter 4:6.

Jesusโ€™ Descent into the Realm of the Dead

Following His death on the cross, Jesus descended into the realm of the dead, where He preached to those who were in need of salvation and help.

As affirmed in the New Testament, Godโ€™s Word and the Holy Sacraments are also accessible to the departed, demonstrating that Godโ€™s offer of salvation extends beyond this earthly life.

The Divine Service concluded with a beautiful rendition by the choir, bringing the service to a fitting and uplifting close.
