Providing care for a loved one is often one of life's most meaningful acts of service. Yet, caregiving can also bring emotional, physical, and spiritual challenges that are easy to overlook while focusing on the needs of others. The District of Columbia Baptist Convention invites caregivers, family members, ministry leaders, and anyone supporting a loved one to join us for a special workshop designed to encourage, equip, and strengthen those serving in this vital role.

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., participants will hear from Rev. Dr. Beryl Dennis, author of Caring for the Spirit of the Family Caregiver, as she shares practical insights for recognizing spiritual fatigue, renewing the spirit, and finding strength and purpose throughout the caregiving journey.

Attorney Cheryl Callahan will also provide valuable guidance on important legal planning tools, including power of attorney, health care directives, living wills, HIPAA authorizations, estate planning basics, guardianship considerations, and other resources that help families prepare for the future with confidence and peace of mind. The workshop will be held at The Baptist Building, 1628 16th Street NW, Washington, DC.

Registration is $50 per person and includes an autographed copy of Caring for the Spirit of the Family Caregiver, workshop materials, and practical tools to support caregivers in their journey. This week, the District of Columbia Baptist Convention joins the Baptist World Alliance in prayer for the nations of Botswana and Zimbabwe through the BWA One in Prayer initiative.
DCBC encourages its churches, ministry leaders, and partners to lift up these nations, praying for the continued growth and strengthening of the Church, the well-being of communities, and God's peace, hope, and provision to be evident throughout both countries. May the light of Christ shine brightly through the faithful witness of believers across Botswana and Zimbabwe as they share the Gospel and serve their communities.

Join us in prayer for Botswana and Zimbabwe this week.
We’re lifting up these nations, asking God to strengthen the Church, bring peace and hope to communities, and shine His light across every region.

Before the demands of the day begin, take a moment to reconnect, reflect, and pray.

This Thursday morning, we invite you to gather with the DCBC family as we come together in prayer, encouragement, and fellowship. In a world that often moves too fast, prayer gives us the opportunity to center our hearts, draw strength from one another, and be reminded that God walks with us through every season. Whether you come with concerns to lift, blessings to celebrate, or simply a desire to be present, you are welcome.

"Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven."
- Matthew 18:19

A new week is a fresh opportunity to walk by faith, embrace God’s purpose, and trust His timing. No matter what challenges, decisions, or uncertainties may be before you, remember that you do not have to face them alone. God has already gone before you, preparing the way and providing the strength, wisdom, and grace needed for each step of the journey.

As you begin this week, choose hope over fear, kindness over frustration, and faith over doubt. Keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t fully clear. The seeds you plant today through prayer, perseverance, and love can produce a harvest beyond what you can imagine. May you be encouraged by the promise that God is with you every step of the way.

As part of her sabbatical journey in El Salvador, DCBC Executive Director/Minister Rev. Dr. Trisha Miller Manarin continues to witness and celebrate the transformative work of ministry and partnership in action.

During a recent visit, she learned about a project led by MVP to construct new restroom facilities for a rural school they support. Pictured are Eliberto Juarez (green MVP shirt), MVP Coordinator Willmon, and Principal Christian, whose leadership and collaboration are helping to improve the learning environment for students and families in their community.

DCBC gives thanks for ministries that embody Christ’s love through service, compassion, and tangible acts of care. Please continue to keep Rev. Dr. Manarin and our ministry partners in your prayers as they work together to bring hope and opportunity to communities across El Salvador.
