Pax Christi USA member Jessica Sun writes about the challenges of identifying exactly what we mean by "AI" and ensuring that society uses it ethically.

Johnny Zokovitch writes that our understanding of the Church's witness should be rooted in the life, mission and death of Jesus, as well as the early Christian community, both of which suffered for the pronounced differences between their values and the values of their societies, in particular the dominant values of the ruling classes (political, religious and economic).

by Johnny Zokovitch This past weekend, I facilitated my first all-church assembly with the small Catholic community for which I serve in pastoral leadership. The focus of the assembly was to revisi…

Pax Christi USA's bishop president Bishop John Stowe and Executive Director Charlene Howard reflect on 25 years since 9/11: "[W]e continue to choose to move forward in faith. In the face of violence and despair, our belief in the message of the Resurrection compels us to act with justice and compassion. As Catholic people whose faith by its name is universal, we must unceasingly uphold the dignity and value of all human beings. ..."

"After 25 years, our grief has not been eased or vindicated by years of war, or the unbounded, blasphemous increase in military spending," Bishop John Stowe and Charlene Howard write.

Today, we finally enter the Season of Creation! 🌎🌱 In his Message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, Pope Leo reminds us that the work of creation care is also a work of peace, transforming what destroys life into what sustains it and moving from “violence to peace.”

May this inspire us to become collaborators in God’s work of healing our common home, caring for one another, and building a civilization of love.

Marking the passing of a deeply influential prophet and poet for so many of us in the BCM community. From the NY Times:

“The national economy that is really run for the benefit of a very few people is preying upon and slowly destroying local communities everywhere,” Mr. Berry told Sierra magazine in 1990. “Everything we produce in rural America makes more money for other people than it does for those who produce it. We’re destroying rural America.”

From Berry’s Mad Farmer’s Liberation Front:

“Ask the questions that have no answers.
Invest in the millennium. Plant sequoias.
Say that your main crop is the forest
that you did not plant,
that you will not live to harvest.
Say that the leaves are harvested
when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit. Prophesy such returns.”
