After Rosh Hashanah morning services, the Sha'ar Zahav Young Adult group is heading to the lawn at Civic Center Plaza (behind Limoncello) for pizza, w**e, non-alcoholic beverages, good company, and a brief conversation sparked by the Torah reading.

Noshes are on us. Want something else? Grab it from a nearby spot and pull up a patch of grass. All are welcome — just RSVP so we know how much pizza to order. 🍕

Postcard Party & Documentary Screening ft. a conversation with the director!

We're kicking things off with a postcard-writing party with — we bring the supplies, you bring the enthusiasm. Every card helps protect democracy and amplify marginalized voices. Then we'll settle in for a screening of Lightworkers, Bobby Roth's inspiring documentary about everyday Americans who dedicate their lives to helping others and strengthening democracy — followed by an exclusive Q&A with the director on activism, empathy, courage, and civic responsibility.

We'll close by turning all that inspiration straight back into action: one more round of postcards.

From pre-war Galicia and Red Army music to a Cyprus refugee camp and decades in Israel, composer/collector Meir Noy (1922–1998) gathered a treasure trove of Yiddish music. Experience 17 rare, never-before-recorded songs—tender, funny, defiant, and devout.

Elul Awakening: Spiritual Preparation for the High Holy Days
