We live in a world that is constantly asking us to tally up what we have, what we've lost, and whether it's enough. Anxiety wants your attention. Scarcity wants your loyalty. Fear wants you to play it small.

But Sunday's message reminded us that the Spirit is already at work on our behalf — in the unseen places, in the slow-growing things, in the moments that don't yet look like much.

The question isn't whether you have enough for today.
It's whether you trust what God is already growing for tomorrow.

Some Sundays fill your cup all the way up.

This past Sunday, we celebrated new life through baptism with Kresta, opened our arms to three new members of our family Amelia, David, and Jeremy! We also had the gift of honoring a woman who has creatively, faithfully shaped the faith of an entire generation of children — our very own Barbara Lyon.

11 years. Countless kids. Infinite love.

We send you with rest, creativity, and so much laughter Barbara, knowing the seeds you planted will bloom for a lifetime. Thank you will never be enough. 💛🙏

Eleven years. Countless stories. A creativity and care that has shaped so many of us in ways we are still discovering. 🤍

This Sunday we gather to celebrate Barbara Lyon and the extraordinary gift she has been to City Church. Under her leadership, our children have not just learned about Jesus — they have encountered Him through imagination, art, and the kind of deep, tender formation that only happens when someone truly shows up for kids year after year.

We will laugh, reflect, give thanks, and send her forward with full hearts.

We're volunteering with City Hope for their Dinner & Game Night, June 8th, in the Tenderloin — a night built around radical hospitality, real conversation, and the dignity every person deserves.

Whether you're seating guests, waiting tables, or just showing up to share a meal together, there's a place for you. Kids 9+ are welcome too!

Some of us have never had the luxury of choosing whether or not to perform. The world has demanded it — at the door, at the table, in rooms that were never built with us in mind.

And into that exhaustion, this text speaks something radical: the hierarchies that rank us, sort us, and decide who belongs? They were never God's design. They are human constructions. And they are not the final word.

There is no Jew or Greek. No slave or free. No male or female. Not as an erasure of who you are — but as a dismantling of every system that has used those differences to decide your worth.

You were never the problem. The ranking was.

So what does it look like to build spaces where nobody has to audition? Where the burden of proof isn't placed on the ones who've already carried too much?

We are still searching for our new Director of Children's Ministries — someone who knows that the faith formed in childhood doesn't stay in childhood. It follows people everywhere. Into adulthood, into hard seasons, into who they become.

That's the work. And we don't take it lightly.

This Sunday, we celebrate Pentecost — and we're taking it outside. 🔥☀️

Pentecost is the birthday of the Church. The moment the Spirit showed up like wind and fire and turned a grieving, scattered group of people into something unstoppable. And what better way to mark it than by spilling out of our walls and onto the grass together.

Join us at the Presidio Parade Lawn for Fellowship Sunday — blankets, food trucks, great company, and all the SF sunshine we can get. (Fingers crossed!)
