Lutheran Counseling and Family Services of Wisconsin

Greetings in Christ! I’m Kris Freeman and joined LCFS in April to serve as Director of Outreach and Mission Advancement. Most recently I served in the LCMS Office of National Mission- Mercy, witnessing to the sanctity of life, and I graduated from the CTSFW Deaconess Program earlier this month. I look forward to raising awareness of LCFS’ services in the community and sharing its history and enduring work. Established in 1896 by faithful Lutherans who sought to place orphans in loving families, LCFS will celebrate its 130th anniversary on June 8, and we pray, and ask that you do also, that the Lord continues to bless our efforts to share His Gospel with those who seek our services.

More information on LCFS can be found at www.lcfswi.org I look forward to meeting with pastors and hearing how LCFS can serve congregations. If time permits in your schedule to meet, please email me at [email protected] or call (414) 536-8333 (Ext 117) so that I can visit you. I give thanks for all the faithful workers the Lord has placed in my midst, in just the short time I have been here, to learn from and partner with here in the South Wisconsin District.

Serving Our Community: WAVE Joins Mission of Christ

During the demands of a playoff run, several players from the Milwaukee WAVE professional soccer team joined MOC volunteers at a recent food pantry community distribution. One WAVE player “shared that it was important for him to be present, not only to pass along the blessings he has received from the Lord, but also to share his personal testimony of how Christ entered his life.”

Throughout their time with us, the players prayed with recipients, packaged food, and carried boxes to vehicles for elderly and disabled community members. Their presence brought excitement and encouragement to everyone involved.

Because of their involvement, many recipients showed increased attentiveness as food pantry leader Ms. Vanessa Robertson shared the day’s devotion. The pantry continues to be one of our most effective evangelism tools, an open door through which we meet physical needs while boldly sharing the hope of Jesus Christ. Our partnership with the Milwaukee WAVE now serves as a powerful catalyst, expanding our reach and strengthening our commitment to bringing the Gospel to the unchurched in our community.

Partner with us through prayer, financial support, or personal involvement. More information, contact Tracy at (414) 264-4050 or [email protected].

LCMS Foundation

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

Thank you, Craig, for your work! I am so glad my friends at church (Grace Lutheran, Menomonee Falls, WI) and Pastor Howard encouraged me to sit down and discuss my charitable intent. I was shocked to find out even though I had included Grace in my Will, once you looked at all my financial documents, you shared with me no assets were going through the Will, therefore, no gift to ministry. Because I have no children, it was nice to sit down with someone who listened to what I wanted to accomplish, and then collaborated with me, my financial advisor and attorney, to make sure my charitable plan would be fulfilled. God blessed me by sending Craig to help. I would highly recommend Craig (LCMS Foundation) to any individual or family who wants to create their first charitable estate plan or review their current plan to make sure their end-of-life plan will be properly carried out.

Contact Craig Toerpe, Senior Gift Planning Counselor of the LCMS Foundation to facilitate this legacy conversation or other questions you may have regarding how you can faithfully provide for your heirs and financially support the Lord’s work at 262-707-3005 or [email protected].

For the SOS Center - Witnessing comes in many ways: The Word, Love, Education, Spaces, Relationships, and Peace

They will know them by their love - John 13:35

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

I was reminded of this scripture when Letrice, one of the students at the SOS Center, accepted my challenge: to read five books and receive a gift. Because she already loves reading and the center has been blessed with many donated books, she didn’t hesitate. In fact, she wasn’t focused on the prize at all, but she simply wanted to show me that she could do it.

In just over a week, Letrice completed the challenge.

Not long after, another young girl proudly showed me a book she had read. I was impressed by both her reading and understanding. However, before I could even respond, Letrice approached me and asked if Sarah, too, could receive a prize after reading five books.

In that moment, I thought, this is what it looks like to live out the Word—not just hear it but put it into action”. We helped pick out her five books, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s ready for the next challenge very soon.

Letrice is busy pouring out love and taking action, and hopefully we are ready to receive it. I know there are many more to come.

Let us know if you’re interested in joining the SOS Center - we would love to have you! Whether by donating, volunteering, reading, sewing, sponsoring, or simply spreading the word, please contact us at 414-449-9964 or 414-617-9550 Prayers are always needed and welcomed.
