There is one song from VBS that just won’t leave our heads and honestly, we don’t want it to!
As we closed out VBS this summer, the children sang “Jesus, Strong & Kind.” As their voices filled the sanctuary, there were parents with tears in their eyes and volunteers full of goosebumps. It was one of those moments that you just want to remember forever.
And the best part, the message of this song isn’t just for our children. It is for all of us.
When we are thirsty, Jesus says, “Come to Me.”
When we are weak, He says, “Come to Me.”
When we are afraid, He says, “Come to Me.”
When we are lost, He promises, “I will come to you.”
We often try to find satisfaction, strength, comfort, or direction in the things of this world. We get distracted by everything around us and forget that Jesus is the One who truly satisfies.
When we are weak, He is our strength.
When we are afraid, He is our shield.
When we are overwhelmed by burdens, He carries them with us.
When we feel lost, He comes looking for us.
Jesus doesn't ask us to come to Him because He needs something from us. He asks us to come because He loves us. He wants to be part of our lives, our struggles, our fears, our joys, and everything in between.
We don't have to walk through this world alone.
The Lord is good and faithful. He will keep us day and night. We can always run to Jesus.
Jesus is strong.
Jesus is kind.
And Jesus is always there.
So if this song gets stuck in your head this week, let it! Let it be a reminder:
Come to Jesus. He is strong enough to carry you and kind enough to welcome all of you.
