Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Members of Beautiful Savior are active in the Kops Park neighborhood in northwest Milwaukee, WI.

We work to build community and extend a warm and open invitation to all of our events. Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wis., is a member of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). We accept the Scriptures as the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and subscribe unconditionally to all the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and

exposition of the Word of God. We accept the Confessions because they are drawn from the Word of God and on that account regard their doctrinal content as a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture and as authoritative for all pastors, congregations and other rostered church workers of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

Walking into a new church can be intimidating. Sitting alone can feel uncomfortable. But what if you didn’t have to?

This Sunday, take a leap and sit with someone new. Introduce yourself. Start a conversation. You never know, your new friend might be sitting right next to you!

Because every stranger is just one conversation away from becoming a friend.

Come as you are, bring a friend, or come by yourself, we’ll save you a seat!

We hope to see you this Sunday!

Looking for a way to dig a little deeper into God’s Word? Join us every Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for our weekly Bible study!

Together, we walk through the lectionary readings for the upcoming Sunday, taking time to read, discuss, ask questions, and process what God’s Word is saying to us. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to prepare our hearts and minds for the upcoming sermon and yes, it gives Pastor a little extra time to prepare too!

Whether you’ve studied the Bible for years or you’re just getting started, you are welcome here! Come learn, grow, and discover more about God’s Word with us.

Tuesdays | 10:30 AM

Come ready to learn and share! We’d love to have you join us!

There is one song from VBS that just won’t leave our heads and honestly, we don’t want it to!

As we closed out VBS this summer, the children sang “Jesus, Strong & Kind.” As their voices filled the sanctuary, there were parents with tears in their eyes and volunteers full of goosebumps. It was one of those moments that you just want to remember forever.

And the best part, the message of this song isn’t just for our children. It is for all of us.

When we are thirsty, Jesus says, “Come to Me.”
When we are weak, He says, “Come to Me.”
When we are afraid, He says, “Come to Me.”
When we are lost, He promises, “I will come to you.”

We often try to find satisfaction, strength, comfort, or direction in the things of this world. We get distracted by everything around us and forget that Jesus is the One who truly satisfies.

When we are weak, He is our strength.
When we are afraid, He is our shield.
When we are overwhelmed by burdens, He carries them with us.
When we feel lost, He comes looking for us.

Jesus doesn't ask us to come to Him because He needs something from us. He asks us to come because He loves us. He wants to be part of our lives, our struggles, our fears, our joys, and everything in between.

We don't have to walk through this world alone.

The Lord is good and faithful. He will keep us day and night. We can always run to Jesus.

Jesus is strong.
Jesus is kind.
And Jesus is always there.

So if this song gets stuck in your head this week, let it! Let it be a reminder:

Come to Jesus. He is strong enough to carry you and kind enough to welcome all of you.

SUNDAY SERMON RECAP:

Yesterday, Pastor Mech started the children’s message by talking about… brushing your teeth! Yep, you read that right! Not exactly what you expect to hear on a Sunday morning!

He reminded the kids that brushing your teeth is good for your own overall health, but also for the people around you! Nobody wants to smell your stinky breath when you’re talking to them! (And as a side note… I’ve been working on flossing more consistently, and I tell ya, it really is a game changer!)

That simple lesson led us into our readings from Romans 12:9–21, where Paul gives us a list of ways we are called to live, not just for our own good, but for the good of those around us too.

Pastor Mech reminded us that Paul isn’t giving us a checklist we have to complete to earn God’s love or get into heaven. Our good works don’t improve God’s opinion of us. Instead, because we have already received God’s grace through Christ, we are free to pour that grace out onto others.

God doesn’t need our good works, but our neighbors do!

What a humbling reminder! We are blessed by God through the people around us, and we get to be a blessing to others by reflecting Christ’s love, kindness, and mercy to those we meet.

Friendly remember: your neighbor is anyone who isn’t you.

So this week, look for an opportunity to love and serve someone, especially someone who may be in need.

Tell us in the comments: When is a time someone showed you unexpected love or kindness? Let’s celebrate the ways God works through our neighbors!
