Why Do Catholics Do That?

Do you ever wonder why we bless ourselves when we walk into the church?
Catholics bless themselves with holy water every time they enter the church. When we dip our fingers in holy water and make the Sign of the Cross, we remember the promises made at our baptism and that we belong to the Body of Christ.
Holy water is a sacramental, when we use it bless ourselves with it, we express a desire for repentance and purification. Making the Sign of the Cross with Holy Water embodies the spiritual intention of focusing on God and opening ourselves to receive His grace. ¿Alguna vez te has preguntado por qué nos bendecimos cuando entramos a la iglesia?
Los católicos se bendicen con agua bendita cada vez que entran a la iglesia. Cuando mojamos los dedos en agua bendita y hacemos la Señal de la Cruz, recordamos las promesas hechas en nuestro bautismo y que pertenecemos al Cuerpo de Cristo. El agua bendita es un sacramental; cuando la usamos, nos bendicimos con ella, expresamos un deseo de arrepentimiento y purificación. Join Archbishop Paul D. Etienne and all those who hope for peace in our world today for the annual Mass for Peace. Each year, we gather to commemorate the bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan in 1945 with nuclear weapons. We will pray for a world without nuclear weapons. With the ongoing wars and the continuous threat of war throughout the world, we will also pray for peace.
