Victory Christian Fellowship

Victory Christian Fellowship Victory Christian Fellowship is a Christ-Centered Community Church Pursuing Jesus, Practicing Love. Our vision is to "pursue Jesus and practice love".

We're striving to become a community of people that orient and devote ourselves to:

Follow Jesus
Then he said to them all: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow
me." Luke 9:23

Love Jesus
Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." Matthew 22:37

Obey Jesus
In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. 1 John 5:3

Imitate Jesus
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6

Demonstrate our love for Jesus in our actions
If any one of you has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of
God be in you? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:17-18

Days 6-7
We made it back safe and sound. God blessed us with a smooth, uneventful trip back. Highlights of the last days of our trip included attending church with the boys on Sunday, passing out shoeboxes to kids in the community, sharing more time with the boys, and having a farewell/Happy Birthday to Tim party on Monday night. We continued to be blown away by the hospitality we received and the relationships we developed. God is good! We look forward to sharing more about our trip and a slideshow (that will contain the boys’ faces) this Sunday, January 11 during the service. Thank you for all of your prayers and support! God used them mightily.

Day 5 - After breakfast, we brought out some bracelet making supplies. The boys went to work and many people on the team ended up with new bracelets.
In the early afternoon we got the wonderful opportunity to go minister in the women’s prison. Andrew Sebens shared his testimony, Karen gave a talk, and Elianna and Eden performed a dance. We gave them a meal and hygiene bags. We were also able to worship with them and pray for them. At least one of the women there gave her life to Christ.
When we returned from the prison we were able to go with the boys to watch them play two soccer games. They won both games, with a very exciting end to the second one! During the first game they generously gave some of our group a spot on their team. Andrew Sebens, Hale, Macie all played, and Macie made a very impressive goal!
In the evening, after dinner, we had a chance to worship and share testimonies with the boys. Ava, James, Hale, Andrew Slagle, Jeremiah, and Macie all shared their testimonies. We were also able to talk to one of the boys via Zoom who had graduated since we had last been here, and that was an amazing surprise!
Thank you for all your continued support and prayers! As we are nearing the end of our trip please pray for health and strength so we can finish off strong.

Day 4 - Tonight marks the half-way point of our trip. It’s amazing how much we have fit into these few days. God is strengthening us and equipping us.

We started the day with another VBS. We shared the story of the friends and the paralytic. This afternoon we drove about 35 minutes to a community just outside of Puerto Vallarta. Felipe believes it’s important for the boys to learn generosity by sharing what God has given them. This is a huge example to us knowing the Emmanuel Institute depends on God’s faithful provision day by day.

After food was passed out to over 100 people, Felipe led games for the kids, including a piñata. Our team had the opportunity to share our David and Goliath skit.

Team time was a blessing as we prepared hygiene bags to hand out at the prison tomorrow and practiced our drama that shares the gospel message. We heard powerful testimonies from Eden, Elianna, and Sarah. We serve a personal, promise-keeping God!

Happy New Year! God continues to bless us during our time in Puerto Vallarta. We rang in the new year with games and dancing.

On January 1st, we started the day with VBS. Eden and Elianna teamed up to make a life-size Goliath and the boys had fun trying out sling shots. We saw their creativity come out with painted rocks.

In the afternoon we had an amazing time at the beach, playing in the waves, digging in the sand, and playing soccer.

This morning as we came downstairs, all of the boys were gathered together as Felipe led them in a time of devotions and prayers. We continue to be amazed by the joy, faith, and generosity all around us.

We appreciate your continued prayers!

We started our day bright and early in Lynden Tuesday morning and finished our day with team devotions in Puerto Vallarta. We are thankful God blessed us with smooth, safe travels.

The team has already begun bonding with the boys. Today we had our first VBS session about baby Moses and then headed to the park to play soccer. Every free moment is filled with games and coloring.

We are looking forward to ringing in the New Year with the boys!

Please continue to pray for the connections we are making and for it to all point to Christ. Many on the team could also use a good night’s sleep.

*We are not able to post boys’ faces on social media. We will be sharing more pictures in a slide show at church on January 11.

Join us on February 12 in Lynden, WA as Jeff Vanderstelt will teach about Gospel Fluency.
Gospel fluency is the ability to speak the truths of Jesus to the real brokenness and longing of people’s souls in a way that sounds like good news for them. We hope you will join us as encourages and equips followers of Christ through this training, and helps us see how everything in our lives, from the mundane to the magnificent, is transformed by the hope of the gospel.

This morning we wrapped up the week with singing worship songs for the boys and hearing testimonies from Elianna, Eden, and Tevin. After one final dance session and some tearful goodbyes, we headed to the airport. We are now boarded. Thank you for your prayers for safe travels.

It’s been a busy couple of days! Yesterday the adults and the teenagers went separate ways for a few hours. Since the prison currently does not allow minors, the teenagers spent that time playing for a community soccer team or cheering the team on. At the prison, Adam shared an impactful salvation message and the women were blessed by hearing Dee’s testimony. We served the women lunch and had the opportunity to pray with several individuals.

After dinner, we spent time singing worship music with the boys, followed by hearing testimonies from Zion and Evony. We were also privileged to hear from a few of the boys.

During our team time, Felipe and Saraai, the couple who runs the boys’ home graciously shared how God has worked in their lives and how they were called into this amazing ministry.

Before heading to the airport and his next adventure in Israel, Adam preached from 2 Peter 1:3-11. The boys and our team were also able to surround him with prayer.

This afternoon we had the honor of being on the other side of Operation Christmas child. About 70 kids from the community were invited in to receive shoeboxes. Felipe gave all credit to God and also invited the kids to come for a weekly Bible lesson. The Kingdom impact of Institucion Emmanuel definitely expands beyond their four walls. Thank you for your continued prayers!

We continue to be blessed by the opportunity to shower these boys with God’s love. In the past couple of days we shared the story of Jonah and Daniel. Yesterday afternoon, we loaded the local (crowded) bus and traveled an hour to the boardwalk on the water. It was a special time with the boys. While we were away, a surprise birthday party for Dee, Tim, and one of the boys was put together at the home. They certainly know how to throw a fiesta! Today, the adults in our group will be visiting a local woman’s prison and some of our youth have been invited to be guest players on a community soccer team. God is teaching us so much about selflessness, perseverance, gentleness, and love as we watch the boys and the family who cares for them interact with each other and with us. We look forward to sharing more with you during the service on January 12.

¡Feliz año nuevo! Happy New Year! Tuesday we started the day with VBS. We shared the story of the Wisemen using a drama. The boys made crowns. For the new year, we had a very authentic Mexican meal, played games, danced, and lit some firecrackers. Today we walked to the park with the boys and got to experience their impressive soccer skills. We are thankful for our times spent together as a team each day. God is fostering unity and encouragement. We’ve had a couple team members feeling sick, so we appreciate your prayers for health.
