Summer Sermon Series begins June 7- As the season of Easter ends, we enter a season of “Ordinary Time” in the life of the Church. Join us this summer as we follow the family narratives of Abraham - stories in which God shows up again and again—persistently, creatively, and lovingly—in ways that are surprising, transformative, joyful, reconciling, and unifying. The movement of the Spirit is anything but ordinary!

"It is holy, holy work to stop, to breathe, to pause, to let the season we're in teach us something. It allows peace to reign in the midst of our lives. God calls that holy work."

Pastor Ridgley shared those words a couple of Sundays ago, and they've stayed with us.

If you've been meaning to come back, or if you missed a week and want to catch up, this Sunday is a good day. Join us in person at 9:30 AM, or find this week's service and any you may have missed at the link below.

We're glad you're here, wherever you're joining from.

The Strawberry Festival is one of those mornings that just feels like St. John's at its best.

Mark your calendars and join us June 14 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. for homemade pound cake, fresh strawberries, a special time of blessing for our graduates, and the kind of fellowship that makes this place feel like home.

Mark your calendar. Bring someone new.

There is something about a handmade card that no store-bought version can touch.

For Mother's Day this year, our kids took a little time to make something for the moms in their lives. Colored markers, a little glitter, a lot of heart. It is a small moment, but it is also a picture of what we are doing here: raising kids who know how to show up for the people they love.

At St. John's, children are part of the fabric of this church from the very beginning. From Sunday School and Children's Time in worship, to Sacrament Workshops and mission projects, to eventually heading off to Montreat and Massanetta with their friends, this is a place that grows with your family.

We are so glad these kids are ours.

Rain or shine, we show up for our community.

As you all know, this week, St. John's is running parking for the Devon Horse Show, and for us, it's about so much more than fundraising. It's deacons and teenagers, longtime members and new faces, all packed under a tent getting to know one another and serving together. That's the church we want to be.

We've got parking all week. Come find us, say hello, and have a great time at the Devon Horse Show!

Forty-four people. Six homes. One really good meal.

St. John's held its Progressive Dinner this month, and it was exactly the kind of evening that reminds us why this community is special. Lisa and Steve Scolari opened their home for the appetizer reception, and five families welcomed groups of 7 to 12 neighbors around their dinner tables: Elizabeth and Mark Ator, Claire and Richard Hangen, Sharon and John Griffen, Lisa Howell, and Lauren and Jason Feldman.

That's a lot of front doors opened. A lot of "come on in."

Thank you to everyone who hosted, attended, and made it such a warm night together.

Thirty-six sandwiches for St. John's Hospice thanks to our youth.

Recently our St. John's youth worked together, read John 21, and talked about what it really looks like to feed Jesus' sheep. There was also a moment of high comedy when Michael (youth leader pictured) began making sandwiches out of the heels of the bread, grossing everyone out and giving them an impromptu lesson in empathy for anyone who might endure an all-crust fate. The kids were horrified, but he's a good sport and they love him for it.

This is the kind of afternoon that says a lot about who our youth are becoming.

Empathy practice in real time, with a side of laughter.

The Devon Horse Show starts today, and so does parking at St. John's!

Our incredible volunteers will be out front from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, directing cars, taking payments, and waving you on toward the show. Every dollar you spend parking here goes straight to youth ministry retreats, mission trips, and summer programs. You park, they go.

We are also, hand on heart, the best parking deal anywhere near Devon.

Pricing: $10 daily, $20 on Sunday, May 24, $30 on Thursday, May 28. Cash or electronic payments accepted.
(A $1.00 fee applies to electronic payments.)

Heading to the show? Pull in.

A few Sundays back, the Carriage House was full for a Pop-Up Sunday School on "Faith, Mental Wellness, and the Brain" with Rev. Miriam Diephouse-McMillan, a chaplain with fourteen years of experience at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital.

Miriam walked us through what the research actually shows about faith and the brain, which parts light up when we pray, what happens when we gather in community, how spiritual practices shape our mental and emotional well-being. It was the kind of conversation that left people lingering afterward, still talking on the way to their cars.

If you missed it, good news! Miriam is coming back this fall to teach a class. Keep an eye out for the details.

Nothing ever really ends. It just turns into something new.

We'd love to worship with you tomorrow as we explore what resurrection means for the stories we're living right now.
