This Sunday kick off the week leading up to Independence Day and join St. David's for a summer cookout and reading/presentation of the Declaration of Independence. Listen to the words that inspired a people and sparked a new nation.

Family-friendly, this event will include games and patriotic activities for people of all ages. All are welcome; free registration is strongly encouraged; food is first-come, first-served based on the number of registrations received.

How do freedom of speech and freedom of religion truly impact you and your community? Find out at the first of St. David's Summer Parish History and Archives talks this year, "The Importance of our First Amendment Freedoms."

Michael Moreland—scholar of constitutional law and Villanova Law professor—will focus on two of our five First Amendment freedoms: speech and religion. We’ll discuss why these freedoms are so important for you.

Moreland is University Professor of Law and Religion at Villanova University Law School and the director of the Eleanor H. McCullen Center of Law, Religion and Public Policy. He holds a doctorate in theological ethics from Boston College and a juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. Moreland’s voice and expertise are frequently sought out nationally.

Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty, and love based on the Broadway musical that inspired a generation.

The original Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award-winner, Stephen Schwartz, and it took the world by storm. Boasting a score with chart topping songs, Godspell JR. is a sensation that continues to touch audiences.

A group of disciples help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, are employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life.

The St. David’s Children’s and Youth Choirs will present Godspell Jr. on Sunday, May 31 at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 dollars for children, and a maximum of $50 for households. We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Isaac Lee as our new associate director of music beginning in the fall of 2026. Isaac brings to our music department enormous talent and experience as an organist and church musician. Most recently he served as organ scholar at Church of the Heavenly Rest, New York City. He is a brilliant musician and leader with a collaborative spirit that will greatly add to our music team and our staff. He will serve as organist, associate director of all our choirs, and primary director of our Thursday handbell choir.

Isaac is a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at The Juilliard School studying with Paul Jacobs. He graduated from Yale University with a Master of Musical Arts degree. While at Yale, he received the 2022 Robert Baker Prize for performance excellence, and the 2023 Director’s Prize for research excellence. Most recently, he served as organ scholar at Church of the Heavenly Rest and as the Wilson Family Sacred Music Intern at The Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City. Outside of music, he enjoys hiking and cooking, and looks forward to having a kitchen of his own again.
