Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty, and love based on the Broadway musical that inspired a generation.

The original Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award-winner, Stephen Schwartz, and it took the world by storm. Boasting a score with chart topping songs, Godspell JR. is a sensation that continues to touch audiences.

A group of disciples help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, are employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life.

The St. David’s Children’s and Youth Choirs will present Godspell Jr. on Sunday, May 31 at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 dollars for children, and a maximum of $50 for households. Children 4 and under are free. Come join us for a fun afternoon of Broadway music! Get tickets online ahead at https://stdavidschurch.org/events/godspell-jr/ or purchase at the door.

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Isaac Lee as our new associate director of music beginning in the fall of 2026. Isaac brings to our music department enormous talent and experience as an organist and church musician. Most recently he served as organ scholar at Church of the Heavenly Rest, New York City. He is a brilliant musician and leader with a collaborative spirit that will greatly add to our music team and our staff. He will serve as organist, associate director of all our choirs, and primary director of our Thursday handbell choir.

Isaac is a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at The Juilliard School studying with Paul Jacobs. He graduated from Yale University with a Master of Musical Arts degree. While at Yale, he received the 2022 Robert Baker Prize for performance excellence, and the 2023 Director’s Prize for research excellence. Most recently, he served as organ scholar at Church of the Heavenly Rest and as the Wilson Family Sacred Music Intern at The Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City. Outside of music, he enjoys hiking and cooking, and looks forward to having a kitchen of his own again.

Today is the Feast of the Ascension, at which we remember when Jesus concluded his earthly ministry by leaving his disciples and ascending into heaven. (Matthew 28, Acts 1) The Feast of the Ascension is celebrated on the Thursday 40 days after Easter Sunday, and ten days before the Feast of Pentecost. Just before his ascension, Jesus promised that “another comforter,” the Holy Spirit, would soon come among the disciples. That promise is then realized on Pentecost.

Please join us this Sunday evening at 5 p.m. for a Choral Evensong in celebration of the Ascension. St. David’s Adult Choir with Dr. Andrea Boudra, organist and conducted by Dr. Elaine Sonnenberg Whitelock, will present a Choral Evensong for the Feast of the Ascension. Music will include: “Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis” by Howells (Collegium Regale), “Come Renew Us” by Daley, and “God is Gone Up” by Finzi.

This worship service will be held in the Chapel and livestreamed online. A reception will follow in Allen Hall. Come one, come all: the service is free to attend though donations are welcome in support of St. David's music ministry.

Be guided by nature's hand away from the noise of life into a serene and tranquil space.

Come by The Gift Shop & Art Gallery at St. David's () for "Whispering Wonders," the current gallery exhibit by AnnMarie Carmack, open now through June 5. Shop and gallery hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the shop is also open following morning worship on Sundays. Proceeds from shop purchases, including a percentage of art purchases, go to support St. David's International Outreach ministries.

AnnMarie is a visual artist who since childhood has always found connection and purpose through art. In college, she studied many art mediums and graduated from Antonelli Institute in 2006. After graduating she worked as a freelance photographer and has captured countless weddings and portraits.

AnnMarie is always experimenting and loves working with new materials, this led her to encaustic paint, an ancient medium that is created by mixing beeswax and resin. She incorporates her photography, oils and mixed media with the encaustic paint. Working with layers of wax she creates dreamy and delicate paintings that reflect her connection to the natural world.

Don't forget our Eastertide focus on feeding!

Please join us in collecting non-perishable food for the summer at our Outreach feeding ministry partner locations. Food donations tend to be highest in the fall around holidays. Donations drop in the summer just as demand at our partners is on the rise—driven by increasing food prices and children being home from school. Help us to meet this need by bringing your donations to the bin in the Chapel Narthex through Pentecost Sunday, May 24.

Please note, all donations should be new, unopened, and unexpired. Food suggestions include:
Canned meat
Canned fish
Peanut butter
Pasta sauce in plastic jars (not glass)
Canned vegetables
Canned fruit
Dried pasta, beans, and rice
also greatly appreciated are items like condiments, spices, herbs, and anything else that makes people feel seen and cared for.

No pre-reading.
No homework.
No need to have attended last time.
Just show up.

What if Sunday mornings could go a little deeper? Our new Gospel Chat Bible Study is your invitation to do just that. Rooted in the conviction that Scripture comes alive in community, we gather to read, wrestle with, and be transformed by God’s Word. At Gospel Chat Bible Study, we will open Scripture together, ask real questions, and discover how God’s Word speaks to each of us right where we are.

We meet on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 11:30 a.m. in the library, on the second floor of the Chapel building — right after worship and Adult & Youth Forum while you’re already here.

As we’ve reflected on St. David’s Cross Connections podcast, our sacred texts were written for communities, and that’s exactly what we’re building here. Started by the Young Adults fellowship and open to all, whether you’re 22 or 72, you belong here. Gospel Chat exists to help us know God through Jesus Christ and carry that good news into the world together.
