Pentecost is more than a dramatic moment of wind and fire—it is the birth of a new kind of community. This week we connect Acts 2 with Paul’s letter to the Philippians and explore what happens when people begin to share the mind of Christ together. In a divided and anxious world, the Holy Spirit still creates communities marked by humility, joy, peace, and love that reaches across every barrier. In a world that teaches us to hold tightly to power, status, and control, Jesus shows us another way.

This week at Berwyn United Methodist Church, we continue our “Living in Hope” series with Philippians 2:1–13 and one of the earliest hymns of the church—the Christ Hymn.

Paul gives us a vision of Jesus who did not cling to privilege, but emptied himself in love, taking the form of a servant. Through humility, compassion, and self-giving love, Christ reveals the very heart of God.
