This Pride Month, we are celebrating a truth we hold dear every single day: You are a beloved child of God, exactly as you are.

Our faith teaches us that love is the greatest commandment, and at Fairlington Presbyterian, that love has no fine print. We honor the history, the struggle, and the vibrant joy of the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether you are searching for a spiritual home or just a place to belong, know that our doors and our hearts are wide open.

Since the recent expansion of deportation enforcement, many lives have been deeply disrupted. What has often been described in public discourse as targeting “the worst of the worst” has, in practice, affected a far broader group of individuals. Deaths in ICE custody increased significantly in 2025, with that trend continuing into 2026.

Elder Gary Hughes has been working with our Session and Deacons to bring attention to this injustice by erecting a memorial on our front lawn with the names of those whose deaths have been documented.

As a Matthew 25 congregation of the PC(USA), one of our stated priorities is “dismantling structural racism.” A memorial to draw attention to this issue is one way of communicating that we are to treat every person as we would treat Christ.
