Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Faith,

Worship This Sunday
This Sunday I plan to be back in the pulpit, or at least in a chair in the front of the church, talking about the Marks of a Christian as found in Romans 12:9-21. We will be reading a few verses from Psalm 105 as we echo the words to rejoice in the Lord and sing His praises.

Thank you all for the great prayer support, well wishes, and food! Although I am recovering as expected, I am tired and it is taking me a few more weeks to be back to full strength. During this time, please keep up the prayers and continue to share the Grace and Peace of our Lord with each other.

In the Life of Calvary Presbyterian
• August 24: Roof replacement construction is expected to begin in just a few days. The project is expected to take four to eight weeks.
• August 28: Family Game Night.
• Women’s Retreat: I would like to plan a Women’s Retreat this fall. Please let me know if you are interested in helping plan or attending. Details are still to be determined.
• Prayer Ministry: I would like to form a volunteer Prayer Ministry. Please let me know if you are interested in actively praying for our members, our church, and our community.

Surgery and Recovery Update
The surgery went as expected, and I was able to return home the same day by 3:30 p.m. The first night was difficult as the nerve block wore off, but each day since then has brought improvement.

I am grateful for your continued prayers as I begin physical therapy three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Looking Ahead
I look forward to seeing you all again in a few weeks. My hat goes off to everyone who has gone through this before; it is certainly not for the faint of heart. Still, God is good—always—and His creation is amazing. Even the intricacies of the knee are humbling.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Faith,

This Sunday, I will be preaching on Psalm 145:1-9,21 and Matthew 14:13-21. Psalm 145 talks about the Greatness and the Goodness of God. It is a song of praise from King David of the Old Testament, but it is still relevant today as we bless His Holy Name forever and ever. Our Gospel reading this Sunday echoes this Greatness and Goodness of God as seen in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who He healed the sick and fed the hungry...about five thousand men, plus women and children...all on 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish....with 12 baskets of broken pieces left over. I think this is a great reminder that God is good and He can help us in our weakness, especially when we need healing or need to feed ourselves or our families.
