Nobody signs up for trials. When hardship arrives, our natural instinct is to find the quickest exit.

But James 1:12 offers a beautiful promise: “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial...” 📖

The blessing doesn’t come from avoiding the storm, but from holding fast right in the middle of it. God doesn’t waste our pain. The very trial that feels like it’s breaking you is often the tool He uses to shape you, refining your faith and moulding you into the likeness of Christ. 🌳

Perseverance isn't about pretending everything is fine. It is about choosing to anchor your heart in God's goodness, knowing He is infinitely greater than the storm around you. If you are in a testing season today, take heart. You are not forgotten, and your endurance is not in vain. 👑

You can't do discipleship in a vacuum. Being formed into Christlikeness is designed to happen in community. It's in the messy, beautiful reality of doing life together that our rough edges are smoothed out and our capacity to love is stretched.

As we step into September, our focus as a church family shifts to a beautiful, challenging, and lifelong journey: Being Formed Into Christlikeness.

Spiritual growth isn't about trying harder to follow a set of rules; it’s about allowing the Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out. It's about modelling our reactions, our thoughts, and our actions after Jesus. It means learning to love the unlovable, extending grace when it’s hard, and walking in deep obedience.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be exploring what it looks like to let Christ shape our character in the everyday moments.

School of the Bible starts tomorrow at 6:30pm.

For the next few months, we'll take a deeper look at the foundations of our Christian faith and wrestle with some of the biggest questions we encounter, like:
- Why do we trust the Bible?
- Who is Jesus?
- Why the Trinity?
- What is the work of the Holy Spirit?
- Why does the resurrection matter?
- What hope do we have in Christ?

Ultimately, we're asking one question: Why do we believe what we believe?

We want to be people whose faith is rooted in truth, not just in what we've always been told.

At Eastside, this belief is the foundation for everything we do. We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe in the Father, whose love never fails. We believe in the Holy Spirit, our comforter and guide 🤍

One God. One Faith. One Hope 🛡️

When we choose to build our lives with the steadfast belief in the presence of our God, we find an unshakeable hope that stays firm regardless of how the world around us changes. 🙌

This year's course centres around one simple question:
Why do we believe what we believe?

Whether you’re:
- new to faith
- a lifelong Christian
- carrying questions
- new to Eastside
- looking for a stronger foundation for what you believe

Built to last. 🌪️

Storms are an inevitable part of life. Whether it’s an unexpected season of hardship, a sudden wave of anxiety, or the daily pressures of a busy week, the winds will blow. But our strength doesn't depend on the weather around us, it depends on the foundation beneath us. 🌧️

When we choose to anchor our hearts, minds, and schedules deeply in God's Word, we become unshakeable. It begs the question for all of us as we head into a new week: Are you rooted?

Rooted to serve. 🌿🤲

When we spend time digging deep into Scripture, it does more than just fill our heads with knowledge, it completely changes our hearts. The more we grow in God’s Word, the more we naturally begin to see the world through His eyes and find ourselves wanting to love and serve the people around us better. 📖

This month, as we focus on growing in the Word together, let’s put our faith into action. Look around your workplace, your neighbourhood, or your Life Group this week. Who can you bless? Who needs a helping hand, an encouraging word, or a hot cup of coffee? ☕️

Let’s be a community that doesn't just read the truth, but actively lives it out! 🙌

Questions aren't the enemy of faith.

In fact, Jesus calls us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

School of the Bible is an opportunity to do that.

We’ll explore the foundations of Christian faith, including Scripture, Jesus, the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, salvation, and the hope we have in Christ.

Not just to know what we believe, but to understand why we believe it and how those truths shape the way we live.
