Morning Thort

2 Kings 18 CSB

Judah’s King Hezekiah
18 In the third year of Israel’s King Hoshea son of Elah, Hezekiah son of Ahaz became king of Judah. 2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abi daughter of Zechariah. 3 He did what was right in the Lord’s sight just as his ancestor David had done. 4 He removed the high places, shattered the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake that Moses made, for until then the Israelites were burning incense to it. It was called Nehushtan.
5 Hezekiah relied on the Lord God of Israel; not one of the kings of Judah was like him, either before him or after him. 6 He remained faithful to the Lord and did not turn from following him but kept the commands the Lord had commanded Moses.
7 The Lord was with him, and wherever he went he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. 8 He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza and its borders, from watchtower to fortified city.

Morning Thort,

Romans 16:25-27 Christian Standard Bible

25 Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation about Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept silent for long ages 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic Scriptures, according to the command of the eternal God to advance the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles— 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ—to him be the glory forever! Amen.

Morning Thort,
We are not relevant when we mirror secular culture. We are relevant when we are what they long to be.

John 3:16 Amplified Bible
16 “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Morning Thort,

I love the Amplified Bible version of this scripture.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Amplified Bible
5 Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
6 In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].
It is that whole concept of using but not relying on your own understand. Making sure that you spend time with Him in contemplating the issue before moving on it.

Morning Thort,

This gem really challenged me this morning. How do we view the lost ... in our lives. Without realizing it often, we tend to devalue them as we want to just move on.

Morning Thort,

Proverbs 15:31-33
31 Whoever heeds life-giving correction
will be at home among the wise.
32 Those who disregard discipline despise themselves,
but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.
33 Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the LORD,
and humility comes before honour.

Morning Thort,

Walk gently, love well

“So then, in everything treat others the same way you want them to treat you, for this is [the essence of] the Law and the [writings of the] Prophets.
Matthew 7:12 AMP

Morning Thort,
Faith (mustard seed) does not deny the existence of a problem, it denies the problem a place of influence! Be careful what lies you are allowing to have influence in your life. Know who you are in Him, ask what is your daily bread - and ask daily, do not get lost in the grind of life happening every day.
Matthew 17:20-20 Amplified Bible
20 He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, [a]if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Morning Thort,

Psalm 34:8
Christian Standard Bible
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good.
How happy is the person who takes refuge in him!

One of the most difficult scriptures to hold on to when just about everything that can go wrong is going wrong. So how do we taste and see? For me the power of past testimonies is the biggest thing for me, reminding myself of how He has helped me previously “out of the fire”. As much as I tend to rationalise it, I also tend to feel that this stage is worse than any other I have gone through before, but it is the enemy just trying to get me to doubt just enough to lose focus on Him. The Hebrew word used here for see is ra’ah. There are many meanings for this word, including: perceive, have vision, look at, observe, look upon, gaze at, to cause to look intently at and to look at each other, face to face - and that is where we need to remain through this current storm. Face to face, lost in His wonder!

Morning Thort,
There are times we need to remind ourselves what to think about because life has crowded out the truth.
Philippians 4:8 - The Passion Translation
Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.
