Apostle Gavin Van Der Hoven visits Durbanville Congregation

Infinite Mercy, Abundant Redemption

On Sunday, 5 July 2026, Apostle Gavin Van Der Hoven conducted the Service for the Departed in the Durbanville Congregation, Durbanville district. He was accompanied by District Rector Joseph Bronkhorst.

The sermon was based on Psalm 130:7 (NKJV):
"For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption."

During the divine service, District Rector Joseph Bronkhorst was called upon to serve alongside the Apostle.

The choir concluded the service with a beautiful rendition of "And Then Shall Your Light Break Forth", providing a fitting and uplifting conclusion to the divine service.

Following the divine service, the Apostle warmly greeted the members and enjoyed fellowship with the congregation.

On Sunday, 28 June 2026, Durbanville Congregation was blessed with a visit from Rector, Priest Alvin Williams of Johnson Park Congregation. Priest Brent Patterson was called up to serve alongside him, enriching the ministry shared with the congregation.

The bible text used as a basis for the Divine Service was read from:
Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV): For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

This comforting promise reminded us that God is always with us, offering peace, hope, and a future grounded in His everlasting love. Even when we feel downtrodden or face trials and injustices, faith leads us back to His peace.

The service helped prepare our hearts for the upcoming Divine Service for the Departed, reminding us that Godโ€™s care and promise extend to both the living and the departed.

As the service concluded, the Rector warmly greeted the members, bringing a blessed morning of fellowship to a close.

Due to the number of languages in which the Pentecost divine service will be broadcast, only the hymn numbers and titles will be displayed on screen, and not the hymn lyrics as is customary.
Kindly encourage members to bring along their English hymnals to the divine service or to download the MyNASA app onto their mobile phones to access the hymnal.

Wishing all ministers, members, and families a blessed and spiritually enriching Pentecost.

On Sunday, 15 March 2026, we were truly blessed by the support of our incredible parents and guardians in facilitating our Sunday School lesson.

Your willingness to step in made a meaningful difference in the lives of our children. Through your time, care, and guidance, you nurtured their faith, learning, and sense of belonging.

We are deeply grateful for your hearts to serve and for partnering with us in building a strong foundation for our young ones.

Thank you for being such an important part of this journey.

With gratitude,

On Sunday, 22 February 2026, our congregation joyfully witnessed the assignment of our new Young People Leader, Deacon Keenen Joshua.

He takes over from Priest Nicole van Boom, who has been appointed as the Apostle Area Young People Leader.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Pr Van Boom for her faithful devotion and dedicated service to our young people. Her commitment and care have been a true blessing to our congregation.

We wish Dc Joshua every blessing in this new responsibility. May he guide and inspire our young people to use their gifts and talents to the praise and honour of God.

โ€œProfessing Christโ€

On Sunday, 01 February 2026, District Rector R Mosalisa conducted a divine service at Durbanville Congregation in the Durbanville District.

The sermon was based on the Bible text from Matthew 10:32:

โ€œTherefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven."

๐— ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ: We profess our faith in Christ.

During the divine service, Rector Darren Pedro was called upon to serve.

๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—บ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†:
โ–  We believe in Christ and are not intimidated by the world.
โ–  The gospel determines our words, our actions, and our entire being.
โ–  The gospel is a great power and the source of our salvation.
โ–  We acknowledge Christ openly in the presence of others.

A special and solemn moment arose when twenty (20) confirmands were called to the altar to recite their confirmation vow, especially the declaration, โ€œI renounce Satan.โ€

This vow reflects a deep commitment to reject all evil and to align oneโ€™s life with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

A special message from Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider was read to the confirmands, encouraging them as they made their solemn commitment to follow Christ. He reminded them that Jesus Christ loves them unconditionally and that His teaching is a guiding light, not a burden. The confirmands were encouraged to live as disciples of Christ by loving their neighbour and professing their faith without fear, trusting that the Lord will always support those who serve Him. The congregation expressed their joy and gratitude for the confirmandsโ€™ willingness to join them in serving, assuring them of their support and care within the love of Christ.

After the closing prayer and benediction, the choir concluded the divine service with โ€œO sing praisesโ€ (hymn collection 369). Thereafter, the District Rector R Mosalisa greeted the members and spent some time with the confirmands and their parents/guardians.

We now look forward to welcoming our confirmands into the ranks of the Young People, as they join the This special milestone will be marked by their first divine service with the Young People, taking place on Sunday, 15 February 2026 at 08:00, at the Paarlberg Amphitheatre, conducted by our Apostle, Gavin Van Der Hoven.

In the stillness of night,
beneath a sky scattered with stars,
a promise breathed its first cryโ€ฆ

Heaven touched the earth in silence,
and eternity wrapped itself in human frailty.
A child was laid in humble surroundingsโ€”
not in glory, but in grace.

The cradle did not hold only an infant,
it carried the future of all creation.

But this story does not end where it beganโ€ฆ

The One who came in quiet wonder
will return in power and splendour.

What was born in meekness
will return in majesty.

Jesus is coming again.
