The fight for justice continues in the case of KwaKhanya Mhlanganisi, the 16-year-old q***r teenager whose brutal killing shocked communities across South Africa.

The granting of bail to a suspect has raised renewed concerns among LGBTQIA+ activists and supporters who continue to call for accountability, dignity and justice for KwaKhanya and his loved ones.

This case is a painful reminder of the urgent need to confront violence and hate directed at q***r people.

eThekwini Pride brought Durban’s LGBTQIA+ community and allies together in a powerful celebration of visibility, equality and solidarity. 🏳️‍🌈

From the march for human rights to the moments of joy, connection and belonging, the event showed the strength that comes when communities stand together. In a world where q***r people still face discrimination and hostility, Pride remains both a celebration and a call to action.

Inclusive and Affirming Ministries (IAM) expresses deep concern about the rising tide of misogynistic rhetoric that continues to undermine the dignity of women, including women in faith leadership.

We affirm without hesitation that women deserve to serve, lead, and speak without fear of humiliation or exclusion. Any attempt to diminish or silence women through language, theology, or public discourse is a distortion of justice and a violation of human dignity.

We stand firmly in solidarity with women leaders across the church and wider society, and we call for communities of faith to actively confront misogyny wherever it appears.

When “family values” become a reason to deny the dignity and rights of an entire group of people, we must ask: whose families are being protected, and whose are being excluded?

Reports that 20 African countries have endorsed a controversial anti-LGBTQ+ charter at a “family values” conference in Ghana raise serious concerns about the direction of human rights across the continent.

Culture, faith and tradition should never be used as tools to justify discrimination, silence or fear.

Every person deserves safety, dignity and equal protection under the law.

South Africa’s decision to abstain from adopting an anti-LGBTQ+ charter at a controversial “family values” conference in Ghana raises important questions about the role of human rights in Africa.

While the country did not support the charter, many are asking why South Africa participated in a forum criticised for promoting policies that could undermine LGBTQ+ rights and freedoms.

Human rights should not depend on borders, politics, or popularity. Every person deserves dignity, safety, and equality.
