KENNETH WILLIAMS, SR. 67, of Gary, Indiana, was fatally shot on Friday, August 28, 2026, while working his security job at the Adam Benjamin Metro Center near 4th Avenue and Broadway, close to Gary City Hall. WILLIAMS was an armed security guard.

The Indiana State Police says that at approximately 10:54 p.m., six Gary police officers and three Lake County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report concerning an armed security officer—WILLIAMS —who was reportedly behaving "unusual and erratic." Police say officers attempted to de-escalate the situation. At approximately 11:20 p.m., a confrontation occurred and gunfire was exchanged. KENNETH WILLIAMS, SR. was MURDERED.

Most significantly, all nine responding law- enforcement officers discharged their fi****ms:
6 Gary Police officers
3 Lake County Sheriff's deputies
9 officers total

No officer was reported injured. All nine officers were placed on administrative leave while Indiana State Police investigates.
