Last night , we gathered for an evening of conversation about Christopher Nolan’s "The Odyssey", led by Dr. William McCarthy of The Catholic University of America.

From Homer’s ancient epic to its newest cinematic interpretation, the evening offered a chance to consider the enduring questions at the heart of the story: home, courage, loyalty, temptation, and what it means to find our way back.

Join us Monday, September 14th for a presentation on the life, legacy, and upcoming beatification of Archbishop Fulton Sheen. His Excellency Bishop Louis Tylka will explore Sheen's holiness, his extraordinary legacy as an evangelist, and his enduring relevance to the Church today. Bishop Tylka leads the Diocese of Peoria, where Sheen was ordained a priest, and now guides his cause for beatification.

As summer winds down and the fall calendar starts filling up again, it can feel like everything is competing for the same hours.

St. Benedict built the monastic day around fixed times of prayer, with work, rest, and study ordered around that center. Most of us are not living in monasteries, of course, but there is something here worth carrying into a busy fall.

Before the calendar fills up completely, what would it look like to give prayer its place first, rather than trying to fit it into whatever time is left?

The prayer will be broadcast live on C-SPAN and live.house.gov — we invite you to tune in and join us in prayer for our country!

Dr. William McCarthy of The Catholic University of America will explore Nolan’s artistry, and the ways his film draws from and departs from Homer’s original work. Ryan O’Connell, CIC Director of Development, will moderate the Q&A.

On August 15, the Church celebrates the Assumption of Mary. At the end of her earthly life, Mary was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.

Her Assumption points toward the destiny God intends for every person: not simply a spiritual existence, but the redemption and glorification of the whole person.

In "The One and the Ninety-Nine," Burgis argues that the great crisis of our time isn't simply polarization or loneliness, but a crisis of formation. It's difficult to form an identity solid enough to withstand the pressure of the crowd, and modern institutions don't reward the effort. This book is about the missing skill that makes real community possible: learning how to remain oneself while staying connected to others.
