Dear people of God in The Episcopal Church: Like Jesus, we live in frightening times. His earthly ministry began, as we heard in today’s Gospel reading, when John the Baptist was imprisoned by authorities who wanted to silence his preaching and prophesying.

Amen.

Today we join the whole church in prayer on th day of Blessed Martin Luther King, Jr.

Almighty God, by the hand of Moses your servant you led your people out of slavery, and made them free at last: Grant that your Church, following the example of your prophet Martin Luther King, may resist oppression in the name of your love, and may secure for all your children the blessed liberty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Holy Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Eternal Father, you gave to your incarnate Son the holy name of Jesus to be the sign of our salvation: Plant in every heart, we pray, the love of him who is the Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Where We Saw God in the Wilderness

This Advent season, we were invited to reflect on the question “Where have you seen God working in the wilderness this week?” Parishioners and others posted reflections, drawings, or photos to our Visio Divina Wall in the sanctuary, and shared images on social media and in our WhatsApp groups.
These postings reflected both the pain and the promise around us, recognizing destruction while also witnessing God’s healing, naming injustice while also seeing the prophets among us, and noticing how compassion and courage continue to take root even in fearful times.
As we move from Advent to Christmas, we are sharing where our community has seen God In The Wilderness this December, through notes posted on our wall and in our WhatsApp. You can see all notes and pictures at:

On this day, the Church remembers our parish’ saint, St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr, who bore witness to Christ with courage, compassion, and forgiveness. We invite you to take a moment today to remember St. Stephen's Day in prayerful remembrance:

"We give you thanks, O Lord of Glory, for the example of the first martyr Stephen, who looked up to heaven and prayed for his persecutors to your Son Jesus Christ, who stands at your right hand; where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen."

May St. Stephen's witness inspires us to live faithfully, love courageously, and forgive generously.
