A soccer game in a Curaçao town square led to a whole family hearing the gospel.

When Jessy and Jijo John’s children invited a boy to play, it opened a door to a relationship with his family. An invitation to a birthday party led to a family lunch, where the parents heard the full gospel. Months later, the families still share meals, and the parents have developed a relationship with the Johns for counsel on marriage and parenting.

For the John family, ministry includes the whole family. Their children's friendships create space for gospel conversations with the families they serve, and this summer their oldest son helped reach 450 kids at VBS representing King David.

Pray for the families these friendships are reaching, and for the next generation growing up in the story of God's faithfulness.

The John family is seeing doors open in Curaçao, and they're asking us to pray with them.

Pray for open hearts. Ask God to build momentum as the Johns reach new communities on the island, including international families and medical students.

Pray that the people they meet would receive the gospel and want to live it out. Ask the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of those they counsel and pray with each week.

Pray for strength for the work. Ask God to give them continued growth in culture and language learning.

Believe with us that God is at work in Curaçao, and that the seeds planted today will grow into a church that reaches the whole island.

Around a table of Bible studies and granola bars, two sisters in Curaçao found a family in the faith.

When LAC missionary Jessy John invited Pearl and her sister to join The Grace Course Bible study, they weren't sure what to expect. What they found was a community that shared openly, prayed together, and grew closer to God week after week. For Pearl, it was the small acts of care that stood out, like the snacks, the help, and the prayers. They taught her that she can be a blessing to others in any circumstance. The study helped her draw closer to the Lord, reflect on her life, and put what she learned into practice.

For her sister, who has walked with God since childhood, the study was a call back to depth. Over the years, it had become easy to settle for a quick prayer before moving on with the day. Now she is learning to trust God in every circumstance, to walk with greater courage, and to rest in the peace Jesus promises in John 14:27. "We became like family," she shared.

Stories like theirs are why discipleship in Curaçao matters. When missionaries like the Johns share life with the communities they serve, meaningful relationships form and faith grows.

In a transient community shaped by constant change, one young wife found something lasting: a friend to walk with her in faith.

When she moved to Curaçao for her husband's work, just after they were married, she hoped to find Christian community and mentorship. But on an island where many people stay only a short time, lasting friendships were hard to build. Then, she joined Jessy John's Bible study. She's learning what a biblical marriage looks like and Jessy encourages her to find her purpose and identity in Jesus. Her hunger for God has only grown.

Pray for the John family as they disciple believers young and old in Curaçao, and for this young wife and her husband as they build their marriage on Christ.

In Curaçao, Jessy and Jijo John are building relationships that open doors for the gospel, and they would love your prayers over their ministry.

The Johns serve among the island's Indian community and among many medical students, counseling and praying with people through every season of life. The work is growing, but so are the needs. Here's how you can stand with them:

For the ministry: Ask God for forward momentum as the Johns develop their outreach, and pray for continued progress in culture and language learning.
For hearts to be changed: Pray for open hearts to receive the gospel and a deeper desire to live it out. Intercede for the individuals they're counseling, that the Holy Spirit would work powerfully in each of their lives.
For their family: Pray for protection over their minds and hearts, their marriage, their family life, and their future.
Will you take a moment and pray for the John family today?

On June 21, 2018, Jessy and Jijo John were commissioned by AG World Missions. Seven years to the day later, Jessy stood in the sea in Curaçao as Vanessa, a young woman she personally mentored, publicly declared her faith in Jesus. The road to this point wasn't easy. Some advised them not to go, and others questioned their calling. But, Vanessa's words made the cost worth it: "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be here today."

Vanessa's baptism is one step in a longer journey. The Johns continue to walk with her and with others like her, discipling new believers and building a church where people from every background can grow in their faith and reach their own neighbors.
Pray for the John family as they continue their ministry in Curaçao, for Vanessa as she grows in her walk with God, and for the next person God is leading them to.

On an island where dozens of cultures meet, the John family is helping build a church that feels like home to all of them.

In Curaçao, Jessy and Jijo John are planting the Church in one of the Caribbean's most diverse communities. Their ministry happens around open Bible studies and kitchen tables: discipling new believers, mentoring one-on-one, hosting family socials, and coaching students, couples, and parents through the seasons of life. They also walk alongside single moms and their kids welcome the children of every family they serve.

Each relationship is a step toward a healthy local church, one where people from many backgrounds can hear the gospel, grow as disciples, and become leaders who reach their own neighbors.

Pray for the John family as they plant a church in Curaçao and for the families they're walking with today.

Pray with us for the Fergusons, serving across Latin America and based in Panama City.

🇵🇦 Pray for the remaining LAAST (Latin America Advanced School of Theology) seminars this year: La Paz, Bolivia in September, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras in November – a new country for their training.
🇵🇦 Pray for LARTC's (Latin America Resource and Training Center) operating permits — a lengthy process that truly needs God's favor. Also pray for funding for ongoing construction of expanding the guest housing and completing repairs.
🇵🇦 Pray for their children — Paul and Maria that they would thrive in their jobs, and Angela as she finishes her Master's degree.

Meet Rich & Wanda Ferguson.

Both were missionary kids who have now returned to the field to fulfill their own calling. They are currently based in Panama with a passion for investing in the next generation of pastors and teachers. For 25 years, they served youth and children in Peru — running soccer camps, volleyball camps, and directing King's Castle Peru and The Last Harvest training center in Lima.

Today, they serve as International Directors of the Latin America Advanced School of Theology (LAAST) and the Latin America Resource & Training Center (LARTC), in Panama City. Through LAAST, they train pastors, missionaries, and church leaders across Latin America, offering 35 higher education teaching modules for students to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and a Master's Degree in Ministerial Studies.

With over 30 years in missions, they've hosted countless evangelism, construction, and medical teams — reaching the lost, serving the hurting, and planting churches across Latin America.

Follow along to hear more of Rich & Wanda's story in Panama!

When Rich and Wanda Ferguson aren't teaching and equipping local leaders and pastors in Panama, they're outside ministering to the community. 🇵🇦

Recently, they were able to partner with a local school to hand out over 400 Bibles! After the event came to an end, one teacher shared her gratitude and commented that before this, in her class of over 30 students, only 3 owned a Bible.

They also recently partnered with a local women's shelter to aid in ministering to the homeless to provide not just meals, but laughter, joy, and hope.

The Fergusons are doing what so many missionaries move across the world to do — commit to make their home among the unreached, becoming an accurate representation of the resurrected Jesus through every act of love and service.
