Who is the harvest?

People.

People from every culture, language, nation, and background—people who are made in the image of God and deeply loved by Him.

There are still communities around the world where people have little or no access to the Gospel. That includes Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, tribal and indigenous communities, as well as people who have yet to be reached in universities and other places.

Jesus looked at the crowds and said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” And what did He tell His followers to do?

Pray.

“Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” - Luke 10:2

So every day at 10:02, we pause to pray for the people who have yet to hear, and for the laborers God is calling to go.

What does a “laborer” look like?

When Jesus looked at the crowds, he saw a harvest that was plentiful...but the laborers were few.

“Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” - Luke 10:2

A laborer isn’t a particular type of person. A laborer is someone who is sent and obeys by going to the places and people who haven’t heard the Gospel in order to make Jesus known.

The harvest is plentiful right in front of you. How is God inviting you to be a part of it?

Jesus says the harvest is plentiful. The problem is that the laborers are few.

Around the world, there are still people with little or no access to the Gospel. There are places where few or no laborers are working to bring the Gospel to those who have never heard it. Some of the places with the greatest need are also some of the hardest places to go.

So what does Jesus tell us to do?

Pray.

“Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2

The harvest is there. The need is there. And Jesus tells us to ask the Lord of the harvest to send the people who will go.
