Jared Valdez, great grandson of Azusa Street pioneer A. C. Valdez Sr., is at the Heritage Center this week, researching in our large Valdez collection (deposited several years ago) for his Ph.D. dissertation at Alphacrucis University. A. C. Valdez’s mother, Susie Valdez, was among the earliest Hispanic participants in the Azusa Street revival (1906-1909). There have been no published photographs of Susie, but Jared has been finding photos of her! Jared is helping identify people and places in photographs, so that we can place them online. Materials in the Valdez collection relate to the family and their ministry (California, Arizona, Wisconsin, Australia, New Zealand), circa 1900-1981.
