Black Hills Church of Christ What can we say other than that we love Jesus and want our mission to be His mission?

In a September storm a young servant went over the side of the Mayflower. He caught a trailing rope. If he hadn’t, a lot of later lives—and a lot of this country—never happen.

You may never know what your life means.

John Howland didn’t. He just held on.

We're excited to kick off a brand new study on the book of Colossians - Rooted: Living a Life Anchored in Jesus. This book of the Bible is packed with powerful truths about how Christ is God's only Son and practical guidelines for Christian living.

We also have Bible classes for all ages. Visit us on Sunday and get to know us and we'd love to get to know you!

Some weeks a problem does not stay one problem. It comes back for seconds.

An old letter from a bricklayer—polite, bruised, and a little too familiar—kicked off this week’s devotional.

If your week has already met you on the way up and the way down, this one’s for you.

We’ve all stood at the edge — toes curled, heart fluttering — wondering if we should step off.

This week’s devotion looks at the moment Jesus stepped out of the boat into uncertain territory… and what it means when He still says “Come.”

I’d love for you to read it (link in the first comment).

What does “getting out of the boat” look like for you right now?

Sometimes the method becomes the mission.

I once watched perfectly reasonable adults nearly argue over the “correct” way to load a dishwasher. Everyone agreed the dishes needed to get clean… but for a few intense minutes, how it got done became the whole debate.

We laugh… until we realize we sometimes do the exact same thing with far more important matters in the church.

This week’s reflection is a gentle invitation to look at the difference between foundation and furniture — and to keep the main thing the main thing.

A sociable parrot, a grandfather’s advice to an 18-year-old kid shipping overseas, and four friends who tore a hole through a roof…

Sometimes the company you keep makes all the difference.

Ever had friends who literally carried you when you couldn’t carry yourself?

The king could have chosen mercy.

Or he could have chosen justice.

Instead, he chose both.

This simple story has been shared quite a bit lately, and it paints one of the clearest pictures of the cross I’ve come across — how God can be both completely loving and completely just.

Ever told God “I trust You completely”… and then immediately looked for a backup plan? 😅

This week’s blog is a short, honest (and slightly funny) look at what real trust actually costs.

If you’ve ever found yourself hanging on a little too tightly, this one’s for you.

Your brain would rather rewrite reality than admit you were wrong.

Sound familiar? 😅

We do it in arguments, bad decisions, and sometimes even with Scripture — quietly adjusting truth so it fits what we’ve already done.

This week’s devotional looks at a fascinating psychology experiment that shows exactly how this happens… and how the gospel gives us the freedom to stop doing it.

Short video + honest biblical reflection inside. I’d love to hear your thoughts after you read it!

What’s one area where you’ve caught yourself “changing reality” lately?

Drop it in the comments (anonymously if you want) — let’s encourage one another.
