“But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” (Amos 5:24)

This is the scripture reading that has served as (partial) inspiration for the focus of justice and bridging divides this year. I honestly find this quote very interesting, as the focus for 2025 UTO Grants was based on providing access to water. These focused on water sanitation, improving water access, and providing education on water importance and climate change mitigation. Indeed, last year, UTO provided grants to “let justice roll down like waters” upon many different communities.

Truly, water access is one of the most just things we can do for people around the world. This is something I have learned about in my many classes at South Dakota Mines, and something I hope to help change for the better. Even in our own area, water is a limited and sacred resource. We must strive to protect it.

Likewise, we must protect justice. It should be there for everybody, and is sacred. All should be able to access it as well. So, how shall we “let justice roll down like waters”? For one, we can give back to UTO. This, of course, is the whole point of these posts. There are many additional opportunities as well, especially inside the church, and I would encourage all of you to take a look at what interests you most. ~ Grace
