The Westminster Confession of Faith states, “The authority of the Holy Scripture, for which it ought to be believed, and obeyed, depends not upon the testimony of any man, or Church; but wholly upon God (who is truth itself) the author thereof: and therefore it is to be received, because it is the...

“Divine Providence is a downy pillow for an aching head—and a blessed salve for the sharpest pain. He who can feel that his times are in the hand of God need not tremble at anything that is in the hand of man.” — C.H. Spurgeon

Here's some comfort for a troubled world.

The Apostle Paul wrote the letter to the Philippians from imprisonment in Rome awaiting trial before Emperor Nero. This is an excellent read. I especially like the fact that it compares to my experience in high school of finding Christ in the land of Narnia.

I thought some here might enjoy listening to this. It is the funeral service of my grandfather, Charles Burtz (pictured) who died exactly 60 years ago next month.
I was struck by the singing of the men's quartet who sang three old hymns during the service and by the powerful message brought by Grandpa's pastor at the time, Rev. Melvin Crane.
Unfortunately the tape apparently ended before Pastor Crane's sermon did but there is enough recorded to be an excellent homily for those of us living today, 60 years later.
