RALEIGH, N.C. — Catholic campus ministry representatives from throughout the diocese gathered Oct. 22 at the Doggett Center at N.C. State for roundtable sharing with colleagues and Father Michael Burbeck, vicar general for the Diocese of Raleigh.

Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama joined the group of about 20 and thanked them for the work they do. He acknowledged the joys and challenges that go along with serving a university community and encouraged the clergy members and lay staff members present to continue to warmly welcome people.

During his first full day back at the Vatican after lung cancer surgery, Pope Leo XIV thanked everyone who prayed for him and said he would "gradually" resume his duties.

"I would like to thank everyone who has prayed for me these past few days. I have truly felt your support. Thank you," he said to applause after praying the Angelus with those gathered in St. Peter's Square Oct. 18.
