Housing costs in Wake County are too high. People shouldn't have to be wealthy to own a home.

On September 19 at 1pm, RMC will be showing up with ONE WAKE at St. Francis of Assisi (11401 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613, United States) to take a stand for solutions.

Join us for outdoor worship this Sunday, August 2 at 10:15 AM for Brunch & Hymns at Roberts Park, 1300 E. Martin St, Raleigh.

We’ll begin at 10:15 with a potluck brunch, followed by a time of singing your favorite songs.

Bring:
· breakfast/brunch dish
· serving spoon (labeled with your name)
· lawn chairs (if you prefer something other than picnic bench)

Water & paper products will be provided.

Parking lots are accessible from either Martin St or Davie St. The shelter and restrooms are located right next to the parking lot (no steps!).

Central District has begun discussions to refine its welcoming message, both for its own benefit and to help the discernment of congregations seeking to join the conference from outside the Anabaptist tradition.

Through a process of deliberation and discernment, delegates from across Central District Conference of MCUSA (including from RMC) reached consensus on a resolution regarding the ongoing suffering in Palestine at this year’s annual meeting.

At the CDC Annual Meeting last week, one of our important action items was passing the resolution: “Response to Ongoing Suffering in Palestine." See the following message from Conference Minister Doug Luginbill about this important step.

Central District Conference Delegates Reach Consensus on
“Response to Ongoing Suffering in Palestine” Resolution

During my ten years as conference minister, no resolutions had been presented for discernment at our CDC Annual Meeting…until this year. Yes, we always affirm the spending plan and the slate of committee members. We attend seminars and hear stories which inform and shape our mission. But resolutions which invite our congregations and members/attenders to take action on an issue of conference-wide concern is something which hasn’t happened for over ten years. The Spirit was moving among us last Saturday morning as we discerned a resolution entitled “Response to Ongoing Suffering in Palestine.” (Include link)

Our collective concern and outrage at the violence experienced by Palestinians, Israelis, and others in the region isn’t new to Mennonites. In 2017, MC USA delegates strongly affirmed the “Seeking Peace in Israel and Palestine” Resolution. The resolution brought to our 2026 Annual Meeting by Lima Mennonite Church referenced this previous resolution as well as a recent document entitled the Kairos Palestine II - A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide document (Kairos II).

The purpose of resolutions in Central District Conference serves four primary functions:
1. To provide information and education about issues facing the
church
2. To build consensus across the conference to work toward
common understandings and build unity. Resolutions are not
considered binding on members and congregations unless
identified as having that intent from the beginning.
3. To provide conference understanding, while acknowledging
dissenting voices
4.To provide a foundation for member advocacy to government.

I strongly encourage congregations, Sunday School classes, small groups, or study groups to study, reflect, and discern this resolution (include link again) and the supporting documents provided. Our delegates and non-delegates engaged in healthy, rich, and meaningful discernment on the resolution and passed it unanimously.

Happy Holy Humor Sunday from Raleigh Mennonite! A favorite tradition of our kids (and kids at heart), Holy Humor Sunday is a day to celebrate JOY and the joke Jesus played on the devil with the empty tomb after death and empire thought they had won.

We were also joyful to have with us again this week and grateful for his reminder to let whimsy and awe shape our faith. Looking forward to having you with us every week in just a few short months!
