Asking the Wrong Questions

In Matthew 22, Jesus is confronted with questions meant to trap Him; but instead of playing by their categories, He points them to something far more important: Christ the King.

Our politics, priorities, questions, and even our understanding of God can become distorted when we lose sight of who Jesus is.

Jesus is our Savior, Redeemer, Shepherd, Lord, and King.

So the most important question isn’t, “What do I think about this?”
It’s “What do I think about Christ?”

May our hearts, our lives, our hopes, and our allegiances all begin and end with Him.

Sermon Recap | 📖 Acts 6:1–7

The church is not simply a place we come to be served, it is a people called to serve one another.

In Acts 6, the early church faced a real problem as it grew. There were needs to be met, opportunities for division, and challenges that required wisdom. But instead of allowing discontentment to become disunity, the church worked together to find a solution.

The result? Different people served in different ways, according to their calling and gifts, and the Word of God continued to increase.

As followers of Jesus, we are all called to ministry and service. God has uniquely gifted each of us to strengthen His church, love others, and live on mission.

Where is God calling you to serve?

Our greatest witness to the world is often found in something beautifully simple: how we love and serve one another.

New Children’s Unit for September ✨

This month, our children are learning about the Sacraments and the beautiful truth that God gives us signs to proclaim His love for us and seal us as His own.

The sacraments—Baptism and the Lord’s Supper—are visible reminders of God’s covenant promises to His people. Through these gifts, God strengthens our faith, reminds us of His grace, and points us again to Jesus Christ.

💧 Baptism reminds us that through Jesus, we are cleansed from sin and welcomed into God’s family. It is a beautiful picture of belonging, grace, and God’s covenant love for His people.

🍞 The Lord’s Supper reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice and nourishes us spiritually as we remember His body broken and blood shed for us. It points us to the hope we have in Jesus and the future feast to come.

As we teach our covenant children, we want them to see that God lovingly gave His people tangible signs of His promises. Even before they fully understand everything, they are learning through worship that they belong to a faithful God who keeps His promises forever. 🌿

"The King calls the unworthy, welcomes the unworthy, and transforms the unworthy."

The good news of the Gospel is that we don’t earn our way to the King’s table. By His grace, Jesus invites us to come...to taste and see that He is good, to experience His forgiveness, and to be changed by His grace.

And as people who were once outsiders ourselves, we get to extend that same invitation to others:

Come to the feast. Everything is ready.

What if the fact that Jesus is not safe, but good is actually good news?

In Matthew 21, we see Jesus not simply as Savior, but as King, a King who disrupts what needs to be changed, confronts what needs to be confronted, and calls us to surrender every part of our lives to His rule.

But this King is not harsh or domineering. He is the colt-riding King who comes in humility, the dying King who takes our curse upon Himself, and the gracious King who comes to rescue us from the cage of trying to be our own.

“The kingship of Christ over your life is not a threat. It’s rather an invitation to real life as it’s meant to be.”

As we follow Jesus, may we stop settling for an “algorithm Jesus, ”one we curate around our preferences and welcome King Jesus to rule, reshape, and renew every corner of our hearts.
