Where does your help come from?

Psalm 121 reminds us that life is a journey filled with steep climbs, uncertain roads, and moments when we wonder how we'll make it through. In those moments, we're tempted to look everywhere for help...our own strength, control, comfort, or distractions.

But the psalmist points us to a better answer:

"My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:2)

God is our Keeper. He watches over every step, never sleeps, never looks away, and never abandons His people. His promise isn't that we'll avoid hardship, but that we will never face it alone.

Ultimately, Psalm 121 points us to Jesus, the greater Pilgrim who walked the road before us, bore our burdens, and gave His life so that we could be kept forever.

No matter what this week holds, lift your eyes. Trust your Keeper. The One who watches over you never slumbers and never sleeps.

🎶 New Summer Sermon Series Begins This Sunday 🎶

Pilgrim Songs: Worshiping, Weeping, and Walking with God

This summer, we’ll walk together through the Psalms... the ancient songs of God’s people on the move. These are not distant words from another time; they are spiritual companions for every season of the soul.

Whether you are full of praise or weary from pain, the Psalms shape us into people of truth, grace, and worship. Together, we will sing with joy, sit in repentance, grieve with hope, and take steps of faith as we follow our faithful God.

🎶 We begin with Psalm 121.
📖 10 weeks. One faithful God. Let’s journey together.

✨New Month. New Theme. ✨
This month in Children's Ministry, we are looking at Walking in the Word.

📖 God’s Word Teaches His People How to Live

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” — Isaiah 30:21

Preaching God’s Word is a sacred part of corporate worship. The power of preaching is not found in human wisdom or eloquence, but in the Spirit of God working through His Word. As Scripture is read and preached, God convicts, comforts, teaches, and transforms His people to look more like Christ.

This includes our covenant children, too. As they hear God’s Word taught and proclaimed, they are learning not only how to live, but also the beautiful truth of the Gospel—that we do not obey God to earn His love, but because He first loved us. From the earliest age, we want our children to know the story of redemption and the hope found in Jesus Christ. ❤️

🚀 VBS is almost here, and there are several ways you can partner with us as we prepare for an incredible week of ministry!

🙏 Pray
Please pray for the children, teachers, and volunteers. Pray that children would grow in their faith and knowledge of God, and especially that new families attending VBS would experience the love of Christ and grow deeper in their faith. Pray for our volunteers as they serve throughout the week, that they would be filled with love, patience, wisdom, and joy.

💙 Give Financially
Would you consider supporting VBS with a financial gift? Donations help cover food needs, theme supplies, decorations, and additional materials that make the week possible. You may give online or by check (please designate “VBS” in the memo line).

🛒 Help Stock the VBS Kitchen
It takes a lot to feed 200 cadets! We’ve created a Walmart Registry with needed snack items and kitchen supplies. If you’d like to help, you can purchase items directly from the registry and have them shipped directly to the church.

🎨 Join the Set-Up Team
Join us after the 11:00 a.m. worship service on Sunday, June 14, to help transform our spaces for Space Mission VBS! We’ll meet outside the 242 Room immediately after the service and divide into teams. Whether you can stay all afternoon or just a short time, your help is a huge blessing.

Thank you for partnering with us in this important ministry. We are praying that God will use this week in powerful ways in the lives of children and families! 🌟

What does the upside-down kingdom of God really look like?

In Matthew 19:16–20:16, Jesus challenges the way we naturally think about grace, success, fairness, and salvation. The rich young ruler wanted to earn eternal life. Peter wanted to know the return on investment for following Jesus. The workers in the vineyard thought grace should be distributed “fairly.”

But Jesus turns all of it upside down.

The kingdom of God is not built on performance, merit, or comparison. Salvation cannot be earned. God’s grace cannot be calculated. And His love is not transactional.

The good news of the gospel is this:
The King who was first became last for us. Jesus gave everything so that sinners like us could be welcomed into His kingdom, not because of what we’ve done, but because of His extravagant mercy.

Where are you still trying to earn God’s favor?
Where are you holding onto control?
Where are you quietly believing that God “owes” you something?

Amazing grace frees us to lay those things down and trust Christ fully.

“The last will be first, and the first last.” Matthew 20:16

Join us every Sunday this summer at 9:45 AM as we study 1 John: Relying on the Love of God. Together, we’ll look at how a rich understanding of God’s love prepares us to thrive in seasons of stress, uncertainty, and change.

Summer is a great time to grow deeper in your faith, build community, and stay connected while you’re home. And yes… there will be donuts. 🍩

We’d love to see you there!

📖 Sermon Recap | Matthew 19:1–15

Yesterday, we continued in our series The King Has Come and looked at Jesus’ teaching on marriage, children, and the Kingdom of God.

Some reminders from the passage:

• God’s design is good and purposeful.
• Jesus calls us to faithfulness, humility, and dependence on Him.
• The Kingdom belongs to those who come with childlike faith.

“Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 19:14

May we be people who trust Christ fully, treasure His design, and come before Him with humble hearts.
