Last Sunday, Pastor Pete's Scripture was from Colossians 4:2-6 and he entitled his sermon "How to Live a Christ-centered life in a world of unbelievers. He pointed out that we need to pray Biblically, walk wisely and speak graciously. We can seek a God-centered life by how we speak, with my life and how I live.

Yesterday, Pastor Pete preached from Colossians 3:18-21 and entitled his sermon "How to have a Christ-centered life in the home. His first point had to deal with wives. Wives are to recognize that husbands were given their position by God and wives are to align themselves under the husband's authority as he is under God's authority. Husbands are to make their wives their priority and be the wives' protector, provider and partner. Children are to obey because the Bible says so and learn obedience at home. Obedience pleases the Lord. Fathers should not provoke their children by comparing them to others, favoritism, being too harsh, being critical, or overloading or pressuring the children.

To live this out, we have to be saved, we need to surrender to the Living God and we have to be serious about living a Christ-centered life.

Today, Pastor Pete preached from Colossians 3:1-14 entitling his sermon, "How to Look to Heaven While Living on Earth." His two points were Believe the right thing and Behave the right way. We have to realize and believe that you are in Christ Jesus and Jesus Christ is in me. We also have to realize and believe that we are to live exclusively for Jesus Christ. We need to teach and know Christ for ourselves and to know the God of the Word. Also, we have to behave the right way every day. Stay away from financial greed. We need to put on as God's chosen one compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, forgiving each other and love.

Today Pastor Pete preached from James 1:1-12 and he entitled his sermon, "How to Stick, Stay and Stand Faithful In the Midst of Trials." He stated that James is talking to his Jewish brothers, the body of Christ, who are facing persecution. All Christians will face trials, and you will either sink or swim in your trial. James advocates having joy, worship and praise in the midst of trials. The purpose of trials is to (1) build endurance [Verse ]); (2) God wants to bring you to spiritual maturity [Verse 4], and God wants us to be will-rounded Christians. No one is exempt from trials.

This morning Pastor Pete continued his sermon series in Colossians using Chapter 2 verses 4-8 as the basis for his sermon. He taught us how to recognize false teachers. False teachers are deceptive in their approach; false teachers are diligent in their study - some false teachers are better equipped than Christians; false teachers are dynamic (smooth talking); false teachers are dangerous in their words often contradicting the Word of God; false teachers are demanding in their praise; and false teachers are defiled in their actions - live contrary to Word of God. Paul gives us words of warning, a word of encouragement, and a word of exhortation.
