Fr. Corey has been away with 200+ vocation and formation directors for religious and diocesan vocations this week at the human formation conference at Saint Meinrad Archabbey sponsored in collaboration with the St. Luke Institute. Some of the Passionist Nuns from Whitesville who are involved in formation of novices also participated.

The week was a great opportunity to grow in skills and knowledge of screening applicants with and forming candidates as we seek to help young men and women respond generously and healthily to the call of Christ for Ordination or consecrated life with in the church.

Discernment begins with a simple question: Lord, what are You asking of me?

Men 18 and older are invited to the UK Newman Center at Holy Spirit Parish on Wednesday, September 9, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Our guest, Fr. Corey D. Bruns, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Owensboro, will share his vocation story, how he discovered God’s call in his own life, and what discernment really looks like.

This gathering is not only for men who already believe they may be called to priesthood. It is for any man who wants to understand God’s will more clearly, ask honest questions, and become more open to wherever God may lead him.

We’ll share pizza, hear Fr. Corey’s story, have an open Q&A, and conclude with Evening Prayer. Bring a friend!

See some familiar Owensboro faces? Prayers for our men at Conception Seminary as they begin this new year of formation!

Welcome back, seminarians!

Today marks the beginning of a new year of formation and discernment at Conception Seminary College. This year, we welcome more than 70 seminarians from 14 dioceses, our highest enrollment in quite a few years!

We give thanks for each young man who has answered the call to explore where God may be leading him. Please join us in praying for our seminarians as they begin another year of prayer, study, fraternity and discernment. May God bless their time at Conception and guide them ever closer to His will.

We’re grateful for the many ways the people of our diocese support our seminarians in prayer and sacrifice, but also through delicious home-cooked meals, and time for rest and fraternity.

During our Seminarian summer gathering, David Kessler and Scott Ingram hosted the guys for a delicious cookout. Jeff and Kelly Lynn hosted us for dinner and fun at the lake, and through it all we made time each day to come before our Lord to offer him prayer and praise.

Join us in praying and giving thanks to God for the generosity of so many in supporting the work of building up a culture of vocations within our diocese!
