July is Disability Pride Month ♿💙

We're celebrating the history, achievements and diversity of the disability community and honoring a defining milestone in our nation’s journey toward equity: the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990.

Through our Office of Aging and Disabled Citizens, we work to remove barriers and create pathways so people of all abilities can thrive. We’re proud to recognize team members like Greg Willett, our Disability and Access Coordinator, whose work helps connect residents to critical services and support systems across Louisville.

“Disability Pride Month reminds us that accessibility is a responsibility we all share," Greg said. "When we center inclusion, we create stronger communities where everyone has the opportunity to succeed."

The Jim King Muscl Senior Wellness Center at Schnitzelburg resides at the former St Elizabeth School on the corner of Burnette and Hoertz. It is open M-W-F and has activities for seniors over 55 to help maintain a healthy physical, mental and social life. (see the Youtube Video)

Since it was established a small fund has been included in the Louisville Metro budget to help keep the center open when combined with donations and fund raisers held throughout the year. Unfortunately there is no funding in the 2027 budget for the center.

Chosen by student vote, Coach J continues to make a lasting impact in and beyond the classroom. Students describe him as someone who goes above and beyond, makes learning fun, and never hesitates to help, even during his off periods. Most of all, they see a teacher who genuinely cares about every student he meets.

Congratulations to, former youth group leader, Sr. Luke Boiarski!

Well deserved!

CONGRATULATIONS to our 2023 Mother Catherine Spalding Visionary Award Recipient - Sr. Luke Boiarski, SCN! Sr. Luke is the Director of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Lay Mission Volunteer Program. In the United States volunteers have served in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Montana and other states; overseas they have been to India, Belize, Botswana and Nepal. In 2018, she received the "Woman of Courage" Award by Vincentian Academy in Pittsburgh, PA, a recognition well deserved for her efforts to live out the charity charism.
