Today we honor freedom delayed but never denied. Juneteenth reminds us of the sacred work of truth-telling, justice, and liberation that continues in our communities and institutions.

At Louisville Seminary, our mission to educate people to proclaim the Gospel, care for all, and work for justice in communities everywhere calls us to engage this day not as history alone, but as a living commitment.

Through our Black Church Studies Program and Black Church Cornerstone Collaborative we stand with Black churches as they lead the way in healing, hope, and holy resistance.

☀️The Sun-Walking Fellowship at Louisville Seminary Radiates in New Directions ☀️

With the appointment of Dr. Marcus A. Hong as full-time Project Director and the introduction of two new grant-funded roles starting in August, the Sun-Walking Fellowship is poised to expand their impact. Their mission continues to empower congregations to engage youth through art, fostering community and creativity.

"Having written and developed the original proposal for this grant, as full-time director, Dr. Hong will very ably continue and build upon the excellent and very creative work he, Rev. McIntyre and their grant partners have already done," remarks Rev. Dr. Debra J. Mumford, Vice President for Academics and Dean of the Seminary. "We look forward to seeing where his tremendous artistic talents, ingenuity, and resourcefulness may lead."

The 2026 Rural Black Church Summit brought together rural Black Presbyterian congregations, presbyteries, and ministry partners to create space for connection, shared learning, and strategic support through educational workshops and practical ministry resources.

Centered on the theme, “Big Enough: Using What You Have in Your Hands—Co-Laborers for Christ,” and grounded in Isaiah 54:2, participants were encouraged to enlarge their vision, strengthen partnerships, and trust that what God has already placed in their hands is more than enough for the work ahead.

Thank you to all who joined us in this important gathering of faith, leadership, and community.

Welcome, DMin Summer Term Students! 🌞

Last week we welcomed our Doctor of Ministry (DMin) Summer Term students to campus for their summer seminars. Over two weeks, students participating in Seminar II and Seminar IV will be engaged in learning, worship, reflection, and community building.

"It's been a sincerely meaningful week of community as we have gathered to break bread, enjoy worship, discuss exhausting current events, dive into curriculum, and then collectively lean into the calling of bringing hope to our world," shared Alex Thomas, VP for Enrollment & Student Success. "I am grateful to these students and our faculty for these encouraging days."

🎓 Congratulations Class of 2026!👏

Representing various degree programs - including the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and Doctor of Ministry - the Class of 2026 embodies the Seminary’s deep commitment to proclaiming the Gospel, caring for all, and working for justice.

On May 16, they were warmly welcomed into the LPTS Alum Association, and reminded that they are supported by an international network of faith leaders. Prepared to serve as pastors, therapists, chaplains, and public theologians, these new alums leave our campus ready to bring compassionate leadership and transformative ministry to communities everywhere.
