We gather in the Highlands neighborhood inside the Keneseth Israel synagogue. Families are welcome!

So practice a different kind of freedom this week. Thank God for what is already in your hands, give something away on purpose, enjoy something without needing to upgrade it, and notice every moment when anxiety tells you that another dollar could do what only God can do... Money can be a useful tool, but it makes a terrible savior!

There's no reason to chase power for power's sake. No reason to chase control for control's sake. The value in any of it only comes when it's lived inside following Jesus, delighting in God, and relationship with Him and each other.

The Kingdom of God does not advance through coercion, manipulation, politics, or domination. There's no "the ends justify the means" with Jesus. If you chase power using the world's playbook, that playbook will change you into someone who looks less like Jesus, not more.

There are two ways to walk through life. The world's question is how do I win here? Jesus asks something different, how do I love here? Which question are you actually living by?

Would Jesus run for president? Look at how He actually told His disciples to relate to power. In Matthew 20, He's blunt about it, the rulers of this world lord their authority over people. That is not the way for you. Whoever wants to be great must serve. Whoever wants to be first must be a slave. Jesus didn't come to be served, He came to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.
