Quick spring break outing! We caught a fish!

We have two big and exciting milestones on the horizon at the Chapel and would love your prayers for both! By the end of February, we should have a list of names to move forward in the process of hiring/calling a full-time female staff member. In March, we are hosting a regional campus ministry event that will bring together students from Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and South Dakota for a day of learning, sharing, fellowship, service, worship, and, of course, lots of food and laughter. We have ten break-out sessions on a variety of topics lined up for students. Read more about this event at chapelunl.org/events. With yesterday's announcement of the kick-off time for the homecoming game we have finalized details for our Chapel Alumni weekend. Chapel alumni are invited to attend the 10:30 worship service on Sunday, October 5, with a meal to follow. Pastor Dan McMahan, a former chapel student who is now associate pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, will be preaching. The service will include a special musical piece sung by a joint choir of current and former Chapel students. If you would like to participate in the choir you are asked to contact Michael Jank at 402-488-8851 or by email at [email protected]. The choir will rehearse at 9:45. If you are unable to attend Sunday morning, the Chapel will also host an open house Saturday, October 4, from 11:00-1:00. Hotdogs, chips, and drinks will be served and alumni can tour the building, share memories, and learn how you can continue to support the Chapel ministry. The Chapel is hosting a prayer walk Sunday, August 17, focusing specifically on UNL’s dorms as students move in next week. We will gather at the Chapel at 7:00 pm, break out in teams to go pray at each of the dorm complexes, then ice cream will be available at the Chapel after we have prayed. Anyone is welcome to join us or be encouraged to include incoming students in your prayers that evening/week from home!

Every Sunday during the semester, the Chapel provides free lunches for students following the worship service. College students love free food, but time together not only fills their stomachs, it also fills their hearts. Anyone interested in serving or providing a meal can sign up through the meal train link below.

As the LWML prepares for their national convention this month in Omaha, the Chapel has been blessed with gifts from individuals, groups, and congregations across the Synod using our Amazon wish list. If you know of any LWML groups, encourage them to check it out, thank them for their support of so many ministries, and pray for their convention and their on-going work!

Friday of finals week. Graduation tomorrow. Great day to write grad cards to high school seniors headed to Lincoln in the fall who we’ve already been blessed to connect with!

Our end of the year Chapel banquet allowed us to celebrate our year together in ministry and look ahead to next year. In addition to a series of student and parent speakers we heard a hymn from a chapel choir, opened two tables of gifts from LWML groups, and dedicated a new altar!

The Chapel has joined UNL's Students for Life group to collect diapers that will be gifted to the Lincoln Crisis Pregnancy Center. If you are in Lincoln and would like to join in, there will be a drop box at the top of the parking lot entrance steps through Sunday, May 11.
