On Sunday, June 14, we celebrated Fr. Joseph Walsh!

40 years ago, he vowed his life to Christ and was consecrated for eternity to the priestly ministry. Then 5 years ago, Christ entrusted our Blessed Mother to him when he was assigned head pastor of St. Mary. These are great gifts for it was at the Cross that Christ offered both His life and His Mother to us. Praise be to God.

“How can I repay the Lord for all the great good done for me?
I will raise the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.
Dear in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his devoted.
Lord, I am your servant, your servant, the child of your maidservant; you have loosed my bonds.”

We have a God who loves us, and we are called to witness to that love every single moment of our lives.

This week, relics of martyrs who laid down their lives during the Cristero Wars will be brought to St. Mary for veneration. These martyrs are here to pray for you and to inspire you, so don’t be afraid of their deaths, for they have known great love.

We hope you’ll come and witness this love that was worth dying for.

And, if you can’t make it here during the day, the relics will be at Cristo Rey (4221 J St.) in the evening from 5-8pm. A bilingual Mass will also be celebrated there at 7 pm.
