This afternoon, we gave flowers to the poor in downtown Lincoln in celebration of Mary’s birthday!

We have a Mother who loves us, who sees us, and who draws us ever nearer to her Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. You can trust in our Mother’s love for you!

Grow closer to Jesus by following in the footsteps of St. Joseph, His faithful earthly father.

The 33-Day Consecration to St. Joseph begins in four weeks on September 30 and concludes November 1 (All Saints Day).

Restoration of The Old Cathedral’s southwest tower is in progress. May its cross that pierces the sky remind us that the Cross of Christ is our light.

Today, Saturday, August 22, we celebrate the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. 💙

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.

To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. 🙏

♥Ministry Spotlight: FoodNet♥

Every Saturday, St. Mary's parishioners live out the Gospel by serving our neighbors through FoodNet.

Since 2010, dedicated volunteers have helped provide fresh food to 75–100 people each week, turning donated groceries into a ministry of hope, hospitality, and community.

Riley attended this Level 2 (ages 6 - 9) formation for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in Sioux City last week! Thank you Holy Cross Parish for hosting this formation!

🌟 Growing in Faith, Nurturing Young Hearts! 🌟

This past week, Holy Cross Parish was blessed to host a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 training! ✨

Participants from across the United States gathered together to deepen their own spiritual journey and grow in their call to serve children.

Our adult catechists were equipped to nurture the tender hearts and minds of 6–9-year-old children through advanced Montessori-based methods, a deeper exploration of Salvation History, and hands-on presentations designed to help children encounter and grow in their relationship with God.

We are grateful for everyone who traveled to Holy Cross to learn, grow, and prepare to share the beauty of our faith with the youngest members of our Church. 💛

What a beautiful week of learning, fellowship, and growing in faith! 🙏✨

👉 A Note About the Assumption

One week from today—Saturday, Aug. 15—we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when Mary was taken body and soul into heavenly glory. 💙

Because the solemnity falls on a Saturday this year, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. But that doesn’t mean we’re giving our Blessed Mother the cold shoulder!

Saturday morning Mass will celebrate the Assumption, while Saturday evening Mass will follow the regular Sunday Mass readings.

Blessed Mother, pray for us! 🙏
