Join us for a Shavuot Weekend May 21st & 22nd!

Thursday, May 21 5:00pm: Community Picnic
Featuring our annual Torah Table, bouncy house, ice cream truck, and tons of sweet things (including blintzes)! Make your favorite recipe for our inaugural Cheesecake Bake Off!

Thursday, May 21 7:15pm: Shavuot Torah Study with Rabbi Kalisch
When leaders are corrupt, where do we draw the line? When teachers, religious leaders, artists or elected officials have acted unethically, should we disavow their teaching, their art, or their policies? Or is it possible to separate the actions of the individual from what they have taught or
produced? We'll look at relevant Talmudic stories and discussions, as well as contemporary Jewish ethical perspectives. No prior Talmud study or experience necessary. This session
comes after the Shavuot picnic, but in case you missed the cheesecake earlier, we'll have some to nosh on while we learn!

Friday, May 22 10:00am: Shavuot and Yizkor Service with Cantor Goodlev Shavuot is our time of revelation.
What have we learned recently? Have we simultaneously drawn near and pushed back to what we've discovered? Let's look at the Torah and see our ancient tradition for doing just that! After some time with prayers and text, we will shift to Yizkor to remember those we have lost. If you
have lost a loved one this last year, or if you are remembering a loved one who died in a past year, Yizkor is a space for us to be together with love and memory.

Mazal tov to Rabbi Elisa Koppel on receiving her Doctor of Divinity, Honoris Causa, on Monday from Hebrew Union College, the Reform Seminary, at the graduation ceremony.

This degree is earned by Rabbis and Cantors upon achieving 25 years in the field. While an honorary degree, it is definitely well earned, through years of serving the Jewish people. And the whole experience of the class of 2001 coming together for this honor was full of memories, hope, memorializing friends and teachers who have died in these years.

Our Beit Midrash teacher, Rabbi Beth Janus, was also a recipient.

Wish them both Mazal Tov!
